So I guess, It's time for some action again...
I love the 'reach for the sky' moto there! ;)
Just sent In my entry!
Nice choice of cars (...especially the Lada for SS3+SS4! )
Think I'm going to enjoy this! :)

Just a couple of questions Bruce...
How do you mean default weather for Hillclimb stages pack,
as I think that only Pikes Peaks, has a default weather..
And what about surfaces? All French tracks set to tarmac mode and USA tracks to gravel?
If I remember well, Pikes Peak Is default on gravel...

Bruce D
19th October 2009, 10:06
I was trying to stick to cars people don't usually drive, while getting classes that are progressively faster, building up to the monster of Pikes Peak, with a monster car.

To clarify the pacenotes situation. The hillclimb stages come with the pacenotes switched off by default, so not even audio notes. I'd like to keep it that way if possible, just to throw in some interest. Just use your head...

NC Motorsport, confirmed for RBR Fun Series and RBR MFCUP season II!
I feel excited for the use of RSRBR09, though I haven't got used to It
completely, as handling feels a bit different from default game...
Each car has Its own handling tricks too, which Is going to get things difficult,
at least during events with specified cars... ;)

lcd
20th October 2009, 07:35
Been testing the specified cars for the Hillclimb event
and I found the behaviour of Lada 112VK S2000 very
Interesting...Its sensitive steering and great feel of
oversteering, makes It so fun to drive! ;)
I guess the Pikes Peak stage, will define the winner though
as In the rest of the stages, the time differences will be minimal!

Yes, maybe so, but you could lose lots of time on the shorter ones... ;)

Finished my run last night. Man, this was more difficult than I thought! Unfortunately I didn't finish Pikes Peak. Was doing ok when I misheard a note and ran wide on a corner, just nicking the front of the car. I saw the temperature rising at that point and thought it was all over only 4km into the stage. Then I noticed that the temperature was dropping back down on the fast bit and only going up on the hairpins so I tried nursing it to the finish but 3km from the end the engine blew. :(

I'm keen to see how I did against the rest of you guys. Up until I used the Skoda I'd had some good runs.

I've finished the rally. Only incidents I had were a slight off on SS6(I think it was that stage) at the end of the stage, just before the finish line. Car didn't hit anything and I finished the stage with no damage, maybe lost 2-3 seconds. Also I had a moment on SS8 I nearly did 360 in a hairpin but luckily I recovered about 210 degrees and continued the stages.
From the cars I liked the Lada and the rocket Fabia. With RSRBR it really does feel like I'm playing completely different game and to some degree I am. I am looking forward to seeing the results and to see what times you guys did on this event.

The notes for pikes peak are rotten.

The notes for pikes peak are rotten.
Indeed they are. I drove there like I used to drive in Rally USA. Use 1 or even 2 gears higher in the corners than stated in the pacenotes. But there are some corners that are true to the notes. So I was doing lot of guess work to figure out which corner is coming up.

Macd
23rd October 2009, 22:19
Didnt go well for me. About 5K's into the peak I clipped a rock, slid into the trees and burst the rad. Engine expired not long after. :(

STUPID PACE NOTES. WHO MADE THEM??????????

Bruce D
24th October 2009, 06:03
Hehe, yeah those notes on Pikes Peak are dodgy to say the least. I was doing the same as NeverKnow and using 1 to 2 gears higher than normal then about 5kms in it all changes and you have to really listen.

Times from myself and NeverKnow so far.

Completed Day1 which was good-I think!
Quite fast, almost clean runs over both asphalt and gravel.
The real apocalypse was Lada: loved Its sensitive steering
and Its sound very much!
I run the stages continuously, to add some more realism
and I liked that very much!
Here are some screens I took after each stage was completed:

I'll do Day2 sometime today; from the reports read so far
It's going to be kind of tricky...

Bruce D
24th October 2009, 15:00
Cutting it fine there on that last shot, LCD. I was travelling sideways (photo taken) on the same spot you were up on 2 wheels on. Interesting variation on lines, that.

Yup, the second day gets your attention. Its pretty easy with the Ford, but all hell breaks loose with the Skoda.

Bruce D
26th October 2009, 06:39
Results from myself, NeverKnow and LCD so far - just 8sec covered the field going into Pikes Peak so far!

lcd
26th October 2009, 06:40
I really enjoyed Hillclimb event, though ss7+ss8
with a Skoda Fabia RC was kind of tricky, as expected!
At ss7, I had an almost complete spin around myself before finish
(at those 2 continuous hairpins) and Pikes Peak had some difficult
moments (but nothing serious) as monster Skoda was very difficult to control!
I think I was a bit slow on this last stage though...
Overall, It was a very Interesting event and the use of specified cars
made It more exciting!

Here are some shots from day2 (unfortunately no replay for Pikes Peak):

When can we expect the results?

Bruce D
27th October 2009, 06:48
Well so far the deadline is tonight and I've only got 3 results, the rest are dead quiet. Nobody is even asking for an extension of time so if they're not in by tomorrow then I'm posting the results.

Maybe...

I sent them PM's this morning but got no replies from them. I'll just have to publish the results tomorrow.

Bruce D

BTW, off topic, does anyone know a free website hosting site I can go to that does a decent deal. My current 110mb deal is pathetic - for the 2nd time in 2 weeks I can't even log onto the damn thing to update stuff on the site. They're constantly full of problems.

Bruce D

What an amazing rally!

Macd set the pace on SS1, setting up a 4sec lead, but LCD fought back over the following 6 stages to eventually go into Pikes Peak just over 1sec behind, followed by BruceD and NeverKnow. However the last stage turned the leaderboard on its head, with a clean run for NeverKnow stealing the win, LCD taking it easy and both macd and BruceD retiring.

Apologies for no times posted here. That will be corrected in future but I just ran out of time to do so this time.

I'm really surprised that I won. I was last on 5 out of 8 stages :D . And as LCD guessed it right, the last one was the decider, who'll win and lose. Especially as Macd opening split looked very promising. Though before Pikes Peak anyone of us could get the rally win as the gap for first and last was roughly 10 seconds, it was closer than in a actual WRC rally. ;)
I really enjoyed this event because it was absolutely different to what I'm used to. And I really need to refamiliarise myself with N4 and S2000 cars to find some extra speed in them. Can't wait for another rally action this weekend.

Bruce D
28th October 2009, 12:04
Hehe, glad you enjoyed it. It was really close, would have been quite interesting if we'd all made it through Pikes Peak. I can't get over the fact that I won 2 stages against this level of competition. Quite impressed.

Bruce D
28th October 2009, 12:34
Found some time to knock up the stage times here too.

Good performances from all of you guys!
I'm sure next season's competition, will be so close to the real stuff. :)
BTW, split times Is a great feature In results book!
