View Full Version : All Star Stadium Challenge-The Solberg Challenge

JFL
15th October 2009, 19:40
New European Rallycross champion Sverre Isachsen will appear alongside a cluster of stars from Rallycross and Rallying at the Telenor Arena in Oslo next month(20-21 nov).
The event is the idea of Rally and Rallycross driver Henning Solberg and promoted jointly the by the Ford driver and his manager Leif Nielsen, the latter the promoter of the Gatebil [Street Car] events that have become Norway’s biggest motoring events.

The event will take place on Friday and Saturday November 20–21. Solberg will also drive in the event where he will be joined by younger brother Petter and a handful of current and former WRC stars including Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala as well as former champions Marcus Grönholm and Tommi Mäkinen. Gigi Galli and Markku Alén are also set to appear.

A number of former Rallycross champions, including Eivind Opland and Bjørn Skogstad are to star, and there is also to be a contest between old arch rivals Martin "Mister Rallycross" Schanche and Per-Inge "Pi" Walfridsson [father-in-law of Petter Solberg] billed as the ‘final showdown’. Other Rallycross drivers due to appear in the event include Ludvig Hunsbedt and Guttorm Lindefjell.

The full line-up for the event is to be revealed at a press conference tomorrow. The Telenor Arena is at Fornebu on the outskirts of Oslo and was opened in March of this year. Depending on the event it can seat between 15,000 and 23,000 people.

Petter also invited Arne Fredly, who owns the F1-Ferrari Petter tested earlier. It took him 1 sec. to accept the invitation. Petter also asked Kimi Räikkönen to show up and drive it..
One lucky(or more) spectator will get the opertunity to drive Petters Xsara(yes drive it) at the event..

I can't wait...

That sounds like the ROC but good!

Petter asked Kimi - maybe the link between Kimi joining PSWRT aren't too far off the mark?

Friday is a closed show to children from a.o Sunnås Sykehus(hospital) and the Cancer Federation(Kreft foreningen) and I guess some kids get the ride of theire life.. Usually they donate to some hospital or something, so I guess it would'nt be very different this time..

Petter’s Xsara looks rather like a RX car now…
But the track is somewhat too tricky IMO.

Petter’s RX machinery from the mid 1990s is also there:

It still looks like a WRC car, but just add some HP's.... Restrictor I guess...
The track suited the WRC cars a lot better then the Rx cars due to diffs and gearboxes.... But still... Great show by all!!!

Very nice. I've got some old crash videos from the very early nineties and he features very prominently in them.

I remember one where he got punted off and then ran out into the middle of the road on the next lap. Legend!

That is what S2000 SHOULD be.
S2000 cars are too heavy and if they can make the above mentioned car weigh less than 600kg, then if you add a co-driver and associated navigating equipment and maybe some driving lights, then theres no reason the car couldnt weigh 800kg, or 850kg at most.
Then S2000 might actually be visually pleasing.

Doesn't sound like they want to move the whole show to another country. Sounds more like a tour. There is no way they could acheive that level of popularity outside of Norway. Sounds like if anything they will make an even bigger show in the capital for next year.

http://www.autosport.com/news/grapevine.php/id/80323

I think it would be disappointing for them in other markets. They'd be lucky to generate even a quarter of the attention they get in their homeland.

i had the same probelm when I tried to right click/save as.

If you have Firefox install an addon named "download helper (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006)".
FF will then have a DH icon (a red/blue/yellow icon, it will spin if
there is content that can be downloaded) in the toolbar.
open the video link in a new tab.
left click the black arrow next to the icon and left click on
"Solberg.Extreme.Motor.Show.2009.avi" in the menu that appears.

the download progress will be showed in FF's default download window
(tools->downloads or press ctrl+J)

Theese things has been someway or another so long as there has been motorsport, nothing new really. If he says it's the future of motorsport, then his view is a bit odd, I belive the sport is still happening on stages and tracks, the indoor show stuff is more for the clowns, and past drivers.
