He is credited with developing one of the first solid-body electric guitars, which went on sale in 1952 and contributed to the birth of rock.

U2 guitarist The Edge, Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, Guns N' Roses star Slash, The Who's Pete Townshend and Brown, Jon Brow are among those closely associated with the Les Paul sound.

Me too a owner of a custom built Les Paul, the body and neck is built from Honduran Mahogany same like the first Gibson ones.

Not just a legend for his guitar, but the man was a pioneer in multitrack recording and overdubbing research. He used to work with Frank Sinatra, and much of the sound you hear in terms of overdubbing and the thicker vocal effects are through his experimentation. Not sure how many patents he had on stuff like that but he was truly deserving of any praise and more he received.

Rest in Peace...you lived one amazing life Mr. Paul.
