I think it is good to make a thread about the national news and results about Motorcycle Racing, especially in countries where it is not so popular.
Last weekend, there was the '8 hours of Spa'. This is the most important Endurance race in Belgium. It was only the second edition, but the biggest names in Belgian racing were there.
Julian Mazvecos/Werner Daemen (BMW S1000RR) were leading the race until a small accident of Mazvecos. They retired from the race. After that, Sébastien Le Grelle/Stéphane Mertens (Honda CBR1000RR) took the lead but only a few minutes later, they retired with mechanical problems. The Kawasaki #4 was now in the lead and still hold the lead until the finish, despite some small clutch problems.
Results 8 hours of Spa:
1 #4 Didier Jadoul/Karl Dutronquois (B - Kawasaki ZX-10R / Jadoul Motorsport) 177 laps
2 #3 Marnix D'Hondt/Mario Van Vossel (B - Honda CBR1000RR / W-Motors Racing Team) 175 laps
3 #65 Martin Scherrer/Niggi Schmassmann (D/CH - Suzuki GSX-R 1000 / Motobox Kremer Racing - German Team) 174 l.
4 #75 Marc Fissette/Fabian Le Grelle (B - Suzuki GSX-R 1000 / FLG Racing Team) 174 laps
5 #5 Philippe Cuyvers/Michel Nickmans (B - Yamaha YZF-R1 / Track Team Zone Rouge) 173 laps
Not classified - not flagged
28 #25 Michaël Weynand/Olivier Depoorter/Grégory Fastré (B - Yamaha YZF-R6 / Campus Francorchamps) 142 laps
Most important retirements:
#45 Sébastien Le Grelle/Stéphane Mertens (B - Honda CBR1000RR / Honda in Action) 77 laps - mechanical problems
#66 Sylvain Kapusi/Branko Srdanov/Jan Hanson (F/NL/S - Zone Rouge / Ventair) 52 laps - mechanical problems
#6 Julian Mazvecos/Werner Daemen (E/B - BMW S1000RR / Team Alpha Technik Van Zon BMW) 43 laps ) - small accident of Mazvecos

Good thread Wim, I like it.
Not much to add from the Brit point of view as BSB is covered elsewhere.
How's Didier van Keymeulen getting on in the German championship (I think he's in)? He had some decent riders in WSS and had beaten Kenan in Superstock 1000, so he's got some talent wherever he is...

Didier had a very difficult season. He drives the IDM Superbike this year with a factory KTM, as a teammate of Stefan Nebel. Didier's first weekend was ok with a podium place, but the second weekend the KTM’s were a bit struggling what is logical for a new bike. Between the second and third weekend, Didier broke a bone in his right hand in a test. He drove the next races, but of course the results were not very good. He thougt with the 4 weeks summer break in IDM, the pain was away. Unfortunately, it was turning in the wrong way and he decided that an operation was the right decision. His season is over and he will be replaced for the next IDM weekends by ex-MotoGP rider Jeremy McWilliams. McWilliams already drove last weekend in Assen on the factory KTM as a preparation for the IDM race in Assen at 23 August.
His KTM team has confidence in Didier and he hopes that he can test the bike in October for the next season.
IDM Superbike standings now:
1 Jörg Teuchert (D – Yamaha) 216 points
2 Stefan Nebel (D – KTM) 156 points
3 Werner Daemen (B – BMW) 144 points
10 Didier van Keymeulen (B – KTM) 59 points

Wim_Impreza, I was reading through the thread and it suddenly occured to me "are Dutch and Australian superbike/supersport bikes (and any other national level series for that matter) built to a similar spec, or is there a broader interpretation?" I am mainly curious as I know that Australian SBK is a relatively limited category in terms of what modifications you can make - not FIM spec, so to speak.
Could a "challenge race" be an even contest? :D

The Dutch bikes and also the Belgian bikes are built to a similar spec. There are limited modifications allowed, but not that much.
You are of course welcome at Spa.

On the spec front, I think - although am not sure - that a bunch of championships are more Superstock-y spec than WSB for cost reasons. I think BSB is less limited than some of the others (AMA may be/have been similar in the past though things have changed in recent years), which may influence the numbers of BSB guys coming through compared with other champs along with a few other factors. It's possibly more complex than that, though that's have I've recently read it (and am happy to be corrected if nec!)

In generalised terms Aust Superbike is the equivalent of what was Formula Extreme in the AMA last year. There are currently discussions about heading further down the production based path and becoming more a Superstock 1000 class.
Times are tough, there is a dearth of sponsorship and whilst there is manufacturer support in this country, it is of a low (but needed) level.
Personally I like the Superstock idea, as the championship then becomes more about the rider and less about the money!
Honda withdrew its official support from the 2008 Championship winning team for 2009, but Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki are still tipping in cash.
KTM have a presence in one of the support categories and there is some hope they may move to Superbike in 2010.
As for the Championship itself in OZ, a new promoter has taken over the series for 2009. Whilst there has been a general lack of information and some confusion over certain rounds as to if they would go ahead or not, it seems the ASBK is raising its exposure. Word has it the crowd at Eastern Creek last weekend was one of the biggest in the last decade (or more).
The Superbikes are competing at Phillip Island, September 11,12,13 (non championship round) as a support act the V8 Supercar 500km race and then again are on the card at MotoGP in October.
ASBK have a stand alone round at Phillip Island, November 27,28,29.
I should be at all the above races, as well as an 800km (1600km return) trip to South Australia for the ASBK round at Mallala, August 28,29,30.
Support your local racing, its where champions are born!

I listened to the audio broadcast of race 2 of the Superbikes available each raceday on the Woodstock site asbk.com.au and tried to copy and paste results to the forum but couldn't do it for some unknown reason.
Article from the site..............
"Oleon Oils Team Motologic Honda rider Wayne Maxwell moved to within 19pts of the championship lead when took a clean sweep of both Superbike races at the fifth round of the Woodstock Bourbon Australian Superbike Championship at South Australia's Mallala Motorsport Park this afternoon.
Maxwell was in scintillating form, powering to a 0.291sec win over Team Motologic teammate Glenn Allerton in the opening 20-lap race and then backing up with a 2.477sec win in race two, again over teammate Allerton.
Reigning Australian Superbike champion Allerton maintained his overall points lead in the seven-round series with his two second placings, but had no answer to the hard-charging Maxwell around the 2.6km Mallala circuit this afternoon.
Team Joe Rocket Suzuki rider Josh Waters was third in both races, but the 22-year-old saw his opportunity of a victory in race two snatched from his grasp on the penultimate lap when a two-dollar bolt broke, leaving his Suzuki GSX-R1000 stuck in second gear.
Waters was able to hold on to third place in the race and second overall on the points table, courtesy of his Team Joe Rocket Suzuki teammates Robbie Bugden and Shawn Giles who both slowed down on the final lap to avoid passing Waters' stricken Suzuki."
A dead-set shame for Waters whose gearshift was hanging off throughout the last lap.

A dead-set shame for Waters whose gearshift was hanging off throughout the last lap.
The racing was world class on Sunday. Josh Waters is 22, in his first season of Superbike and in with a real shot of winning the title. Had the gear shift not broken he was going to give it one hell of a shot at Maxwell.
It would be fantastic if Kawasaki ran a second Superbike again as in previous years for a young rider. Kev Curtain would be a great mentor to a young gun.
Mallala is a great viewing track, I sat in the stand on the flat-out right hand sweeper, the Supers cranked over at 230km/h about 30 meters infront of me and could see the whole track from my vantage point.
A 14 year old, Jack Miller won the last 125GP race, Aaron Morris (Son of two time Aust SS Champion Greame) won his first race in 600 Superstock. Bryan Staring held his championship lead in SSport and looks to be coming of age. Pat Medcalf is dominating 1000 Superstock. The future looks bright for Aussie bike racing.

Ah, I was wondering what had happened to Craig Coxhell who came over to BSB a couple of years ago and did a decent job with a small team. And Kevin Curtain still going too, he's getting on a bit now isn't he? :)

Craig 'Cannonball' Coxhell is currently the leading privateer in the Australian Superbike class. He was shown the door by Suzuki to elevate Josh Waters (currently second in the title) and there was rumour of Craig joining Kawasaki but that ride went to Curtain so Coxhell was forced to start his own team riding a Honda and he's currently making a pretty good fist of things. Woulda loved him on a green bike.

He clearly stated that all but one of the manufacturers would be withdrawing, although the reasons may be hidden somewhat by the GFC

Actually the reason Honda has pulled out of AMA/DMG is almost entirely down to the fact that DMG have turned US bike racing into a big Buell promotion. I don't blame Honda one little bit and their withdrawal is just the tip of the iceberg as far as I'm concerned. US roadracing (in the terms of roadracing that we all know and appreciate) is pretty much dead and buried, which is a great shame.

Honda are gone already, Kawasaki confirmed gone for 2010 and Yamaha holding the rule makers to ransom to get the rules they want.
However, there is a real suggestion KTM may enter a bike to join Suzuki in ASBK.
I would not be surprised to find some of the factories supporting efforts in the FX series instead.
Time will tell, but the ASBK is looking sad, considering last year the ASBK had all four Japanese manufacturers and MV Agusta.

Suzuki rider, Josh Waters was today crowned Australian Superbike Champion after winning both races in the final round (7).
22 year old Waters in his rookie season as a full time rider came into the round 2 points behind reigning Champion Glen Allerton who placed 2nd and 3rd in the two races, enough to claim second in the championship on his private Honda.
Honda team mate Wayne Maxwell failed to finish after a fall while leading race 1, on lap 1, injuries meant he could not start the second race, yet managed to hold third in the Championship.
Effective at the completion of this round both the Factory supported Yamaha and Kawasaki teams will leave the ASBK.

That is a disappointing thing. The national championship is in a poor state, made worse by no factory involvement. I can't remember the ASBK being in such a state of disarray. :(

# These rounds are subject to change pending final negotiations. We are currently finalising all relevant contracts and seek to have the final calendar approved within two weeks. As at December 2009, it is more likely that ASBK will compete at WSBK in February.

Now, what's wrong with this picture? In my opinion, it can hardly be called a national championship when NSW, SA and WA are not listed as having a round.
Having attended the Mallala round each year for many poorly promoted, poorly catered, windswept, frozen, and faithful years, I must say that this provisional calendar is crap. Is there a reason (this isn't a rhetorical question, I genuinely would like to know)? Please, the GFC isn't a reason (IMO), before anyone says this.
Good on QLD and Tazzie, though I would have thought that three and two rounds a piece would test even the most avid follower of Oz bike racing's attention span.
This (on the face of it) is yet further proof that ASBK is run either by idiots or people intent on seeing bike racing in this country pushed to the margins, where we can more easily be monitored and culled.
I warned you all this would be a grizzle...

Eccie, I agree with you whole heartedly. The ASBK has become a debacle!
There are some serious factions within the sport at the moment and it will take a long time to be sorted.
I just hope the carcas of what was a very good championship is not picked to death by the birds circling overhead.

Am stoked that Josh was able to clinch the title, and in his rookie year no less! Props to Glenn Allerton too on a sturdy defence of his title. He didn't miss by much. Was a disappointing end to a strong year from Maxwell. I think he was fastest all weekend with a big shot at the title so to crash out on the first lap of racing and break bones is disappointing.
Big congrats also must go to Craig Coxhell for winning the privateer class and to Bryan Staring beating Jamie Stauffer to the Supersport title.

This is unfortunately just a continuation of similar problems that have been happening for the best part of the decade.
I was disappointed before this season that W.A. was dropped. Surely with the success of the Kings of Wanneroo then a round of the "national" superbike series there is feasible?
S.A.'s ommision I can't work out except for a falling out between the circuit operators and the series promoter. Are there any other options in S.A. aside from Mallala?
With the closure of Amaroo Park and Oran Park in recent years, this leaves only Eastern Creek and Wakefield Park in NSW (that I know of). Wakefield I know very little of and Eastern Creek I saw described by Tony Cochrane from the V8 Supercar series as a "financial bloodbath", hence no supercars there this year. Something has to be found in NSW though, especially given that most of the riders come from there.
Multiple rounds in Qld and Tassie are no real drama as one of those rounds each are alongside the V8's.
The other disappointment is that more than half of the rounds are supports to other series (WSB, V8's). Add the departure of Kawasaki and Yamaha from the championship and things are looking pretty dour.
The positives are the inclusion of KTM running Shannon Johnson and a calendar less Vic-central but there's not much more than that.
It's going to be a hard road back, especially with the V8 Supercars really sucking the life out of motor racing in this country. I really think we need someone with the profile, ideas and resources similar to Chad Reed and his SuperX series is needed to make ASBK a vibrant and viable series again, attractive to fans and sponsors. I don't envy the people in charge.

ASBK has released supposedly their final calendar for 2010:
2010 Australian Superbike Championship Calendar and Classes:
Round 1: 26-28 February – Phillip Island, Victoria (World Superbikes)
Classes: Superbike/Superstock 1000 A and B; Supersport; Superstock 600.
Round 2: 8-11 April – Hidden Valley, Northern Territory (TBC)
Classes: Superbike/Superstock A; Supersport; Superstock 1000 B, C and D; Superstock 600; 125/250GP Mono; Sidecars.
Round 3: 3-6 June – Queensland Raceway, Queensland
Classes: Superbike/Superstock A; Supersport; Superstock 1000 B, C and D; Superstock 600; 125/250GP Mono; Juniors.
Round 4: 1-4 July – Broadford, Victoria (double-header)
Classes: Superstock 1000 C and D (edited); Superstock 600; 125/250GP Mono; Juniors; Sidecars.
Round 5: 19-22 August – Queensland Raceway, Queensland
Classes: Superbike/Superstock A; Supersport; Superstock 1000 B, C and D; Superstock 600; 125/250GP Mono; Juniors.
Round 6: 10-12 September – Phillip Island, Victoria (V8 Supercars)
Classes: Superbikes/Superstock A and B; Supersport.
Round 7: 5-7 November, Symmons Plains, Tasmania (V8 Supercars)
Classes: Superbike/Superstock A; Supersport.
So a round in Queensland and Tasmania have been lost and a couple of rounds have shifted date. Still no rounds in New South Wales, South Australia or Western Australia.
There has been an interesting response to the calendar. Rightfully, there is a lot of disappointment that NSW, WA and SA don't have a round and without them, it's hardly a national championship. Bizarrely, others are complaining that there is too much travel with the rounds in Tasmania and Darwin. Imagine the extra travel if there were three more rounds in the missed out states. Tough gig to be the promoter of the championship in a large country with a small population.
In positive news, despite to loss of Yamaha, Honda and Kawasaki (though Dave Cullen is trying to get sponsorship together to keep TKA goin in 2010) from the series in factory/distributor guise, ASBK welcomes the addition of teams from KTM, Aprilia and the return of Ducati. Should make things interesting.

The YRT will take its three number 1 plate riders in Bryan Staring (SS), Pat Medcalf (SSTK1000) and Rick Olson (SSTK600) to AFXC.
AFXC has broken away from the controlling body MA (Motorcycling Australia) to form its own body AASA (Australian Auto Sport Alliance) with the support of three tracks (Eastern Creek, Winton and Wakefield Park).
Effectively the sport in Australia has been split down the middle. The Yamaha defection is possibly the first step in the revolution of Australian Road Racing.

Jeebus - if even part of what Szoke says is true, then he's been rooted big time. Maybe Kawasaki wanted to trim costs, but they seem to have put him in a parlous state with his sponsors, given that his earnings from them depend on racing in two classes. It's just plain rude on the teams' behalf, and they seem to be hiding behind a screen of spin and bullsh!t.

Some MAJOR changes to the scoring system in BSB are coming in this year:
http://britishsuperbike.com/news/bsb-set-to-intensify-in-2010-with-new-rule-changes.aspx
It's a bit like the system they now use in NASCAR, where the top twelve drivers at the end of the first 26 races qualify for 'The Chase' for the last ten. Not quite sure on the merits of it for BSB but it's the same for everyone of course and won't alter the standard of racing by any means. The NASCAR system is designed to try and encourage guys to race to win throughout the season (in a field of 43 cars with points going all the way down, consistency matters so a top ten is always viewed pretty positively) but I don't strictly think that's necessary in bike racing.
Even so, interesting times.
Rod Richardson
3rd February 2010, 22:49
Why would the organizers contemplate the change when clearly, the series current popularity is due to the way it has evolved over the years with the existing system in place?????
     Absolute BS.
If they wanted to inspire more interest toward the end of the season then they could double the points for the last 3 rounds.
The system now proposed would obviously penalize the riders and teams who/that put in the effort throughout the majority of the season and would breed resentment among fans.
Consistent performances warrant the results they achieve.

I think Josh has to go in as favourite, but I agree, it is gunna be tough up front. I reckon there will be at least two Honda's and maybe a Duc&KTM to keep him company.
ASBK have gone for a control tyre for the first time this year, many teams have had little to no access to the rubber and those that have say it is hard rubber. There have been many grip related falls in private practice to date.
I am off to the Island now, hope its a good weekend without too much rain.

Australian Formula-xtreme results. Sat 27 /Sun 28 March
Correction to the first results post
Kevin Curtain competed in 3 600cc races and 3 1000cc races on each day................total of 12 races.........amazing effort ..............Oh, by the way, he only won 11 of them (came 2nd in the first 600cc race).
The audio on the following link for all 31 races over the weekend is perfectly clear and worth listening to......

Andrew Stroud does it again.
Not content to sit back and take it easy and still win the title, this amazing 42 year old father of 7 who rides for the love of it, went out and won both races today.
It is understood that his wife encourages him to get out of the house to reduce the likelihood of falling pregnant again.
Admirable performance..........(Also does a good job riding a motorcycle)

Matěj Smrž is Jakub's brother? Nice to see Gareth Jones and Jed Metcher do well and I see veteran Arie Vos is still kicking around and at the pointy end.

This weekend is the third round of the IDM at the Nürburgring. I will be there. :)
Roland Resch will do his first IDM event with the BMW.
Kevin Wahr, winner of a Supersport race in Oschersleben with a Yamaha, will be riding a Honda of Holzhauer Racing Promotion. Hampus Johansson is a guestrider. The numbers 1 and 2 of the Dutch championship Supersport 2010 until now, Raymond Schouten and Kervin Bos, will be there too on their Yamaha's.

I'd love to see Allerton and Stauffer get a win just to tighten things up even further at the front (but I want Waters to take the title).
Nice to see the young talent coming through in the supersport class too. Herfoss has adapted from Supermoto very well and Brodie Waters has been very fast this year, probably the most improved. Blake Leigh-Smith is experienced for a youngster and weren't Dylan Mavin and Andy Lawson Red Bull Rookies?

Looks a quality field too Wim. Muggas, Daemen, Veneman, Van Keymeulen and Teuchert are highly experienced at international level and I know Gareth Jones is very good too. Is Stefan Nebel on the KTM?
Wim_Impreza
5th June 2010, 15:27
Yes, Stefan Nebel is on a factory KTM. Martin Bauer is his teammate. Vesa Kallio, brother of Mika Kallio, drives a private KTM. I must say the KTM's have an excellent sound. :)
Dario Giuseppetti (Ducati) was braking to late just after the start of the second race and took out Veneman (BMW), Teuchert (Yamaha), Bauer (KTM) and Matěj Smrž (Honda). Of course there was a red flag and a herstart one half hour later. Only Smrž couldn't make it to the herstart, because to much damage on his bike.
It was really Nürburgring weather too. Around 13 degrees, very windy and rain in the morning. When the track was completely dry at the start of the first SBK race, there was a little rain at the end of that race and there was much heavier rain in the Supersport race and very much rain just after the second SBK race when the Sidecars drove.
I was also by the press conference at the end of the first race. Really nice how relaxed the IDM guys are. I spoke with Karl Muggeridge, Werner Daemen (I am from his village ;) ), Barry Veneman, Stefan Nebel, Jörg Teuchert from the SBK riders, Michael Ranseder and Jesco Günther from the Supersport (respectively 1st and 3rd in the wet race) and to Markus Reiterberger who won the Yamaha R6-Dunlop Cup on a half wet / half dry race.

Toby Price has toppled team-mate Ben Grabham in the first leg of the Finke Desert Race.
Coming in at one hour, 58 minutes and 42 seconds, the current Australian motorcross champion established a comfortable 10-minute lead ahead of the field for the return trip on Monday.
Three-time consecutive King of the Desert champion Ben Grabham was expected to cross first after making good time off the start, but he experienced mechanical problems 50 kilometres north of Finke and it has been confirmed he has dropped out of the race.

Today is the 6 hours of Spa on the famous circuit of Spa-Francorchamps. Big news is the comeback for one race for Stéphane Mertens and Didier de Radiguès as teammates. There are other famous Belgians at the start like Werner Daemen, Sébastien Le Grelle, Grégory Fastré, Marc Fissette, Wim Van den Broeck, multiple Belgian champion Louis Wuyts, Marnix D'Hondt... The winners of last year are there too: Didier Jadoul and Karl Dutronquois.
There are some foreign riders at the start: Arie Vos (Dutch Superbike leader and last year in the World Supersport), Rafaël Sinke... and the British Phase One Endurance team is there with Scott Smart and Hugh Brasher as their riders.
Tomorrow, Sunday, there will be 2 races of the Dutch Superbike, Dutch Supersport and the Belgian Supersport.

Such a shame that Josh Waters had to miss after still suffering concussion-like symptoms from his crash over a month ago. Unfortunately his title defence is now gone. Obviously it's been helpful for Bryan Staring (who is riding great regardless) and Maxwell is still within striking distance.
Old man Curtain still showing the young blokes the quick way around, which is a bit disappointing. Woulda rather seen Herfoss dominate and Waters Jr sadly had a disastrous one.

Gents,
Thumbs up for all efforts in this topic, I'm spread pretty thin these days and don't get in here nearly often enough - but when I do drop in (or want to find some results) this place is more reliable than anywhere else on the net :)
Good to see Kev Curtain still ripping it, but yes we should be seeing the young(er) talent coming up...

Excellent work Rod, usually faster with results here than on the official ASBK site!
Bryan Staring has hit some massive form! 5 in a row is a very impressive run. Big shame that Shannon Johnson was given a 10 second penalty and relegated from 4th to 8th and a bigger shame that Jamie Stauffer came together with Stauffer and finished 17th. Still really disappointed Josh Waters isn't up to riding, it must've been a helluva knock to his head.
Nice to see Brodie Waters bounce back from the previous round but didn't quite have enough for fellow Suzuki mounted rider and championship leader, Troy Herfoss. Chris Casella continues to do a terrific job on the Triumph and it's also nice to see former Red Bull rookies Dylan Mavin and Andy Lawson Jr coming through the supersport ranks too.

The 6-Hour race also decided the 2010 Australian Endurance Championship, capping off a dominant season for Dunlop-shod riders.
Forty per cent of the 6-Hour field opted for Dunlop tyres at what is regarded as one of the world’s most punishing circuits on motorcycle tyres, and the fastest circuit on the MotoGP calendar.
In addition to overall victory and leading every lap of the six-hour, 215-lap race, Dunlop-shod teams took victory in the Superbike, Supersport, Superstock 1000, Production, BEARS and Vets classes.
Eleven of the top 15 teams overall used Dunlop tyres, with Josh Brookes and Wayne Maxwell riding their Dunlop-shod Demolition Plus GAS Honda Superbike to overall victory to claim the 2010 Australian Endurance Championship.
The duo emerged victorious by 1min 16.737sec after a see-sawing six-hour long battle with Team Honda Racing duo Glenn Allerton and Jamie Stauffer and the Team Suzuki pairing of Shawn Giles and Josh Waters, who finished second and third respectively.
Brookes, guest-riding for the team after finishing second in this year’s British Superbike Championship, celebrated with a victory wheelie over the finish line after completing 215 laps of the 4.45km circuit.
All three factory-supported Superbike teams led the race at various stages with all three using Dunlop’s NTEC GP2 slick tyres, tyres which were developed by Dunlop for the Moto2 class in MotoGP.
“Dunlop made grand prix race tyre technology available to anyone who wanted it at this event by supplying the GP2 tyres used in Moto2, a huge thanks to our tyre service crew ( Tiger and Shandon) for their effort this weekend” said Monza Import’s Aaron Jones.
Maxwell was full of praise for the tyres and his team, which bounced back into contention after a slow early pit stop.
“We had a slow first pit stop and lost around a minute with a fuel spill, but the guys responded with some quick tyre changes at the next pit stop and Josh and I just put our heads down to make up the time,” said Maxwell, runner-up in this year’s Australian Superbike Championship.
“The tyres were simply awesome,” said Maxwell. “We were able to keep consistently fast lap times from start to finish in each session.”
Brookes also praised the efforts of his Demolition Plus GAS Honda crew and the Dunlop tyres, singling out the riding of Maxwell for special mention.
“To be partnered up with Wayne, who is one of my best mates, was a real thrill - it was a great environment to be a part of,” said Brookes.
Privateers Kris McLaren and Nick Waters finished fourth overall on their Ankermann Motorsports Honda CBR1000RR and claimed victory in the Superstock 1000 class on Dunlop D211GP NTEC tyres.
The similarly-shod Team Cessnock KTM RC8R of Simon Galloway, Angus Reekie and Phil Lovett (Dunlop D211GP NTEC) finished seventh overall and claimed victory in the Production class, while the Dunlop-shod Triumph Australia 675 of Christan Casella, Jed Metcher and John Chiodo won the Supersport class.
Support at the 4.45km Phillip Island circuit for the Dunlop-shod teams in the Bel-Ray 6-Hour Race was provided by five personnel from Dunlop, underlining the importance Dunlop places on an event which can trace its roots back to the inaugural Castrol 6-Hour Race at Sydney’s Amaroo Park circuit in 1970.

Thank you, Rod. Do you know if Kevin Curtain will do all the rounds of your national championship?
Werner Daemen changed his plans as he is also now a teammanager in the IDM for BMW. He said that he will do some wildcard rounds in the IDM this year and he will do the full World Endurance Championship.

Wim ....In january, the local mcnews.com webstite revealed that
http://www.mcnews.com.au/NewsArchives/2011/January/Olson.jpgYRT (Yamaha Racing Team) will embark on one of their busiest race seasons ever as they will compete at the Australasian FX Superbike Championship (FX) as well as the Australian Superbike Championships (ASBK) in 2011.
YRT will compete in 11 national road-racing events plus selected high profile meetings such as the Bel-Ray six hour making it a huge season for the team and showing the kind of commitment to racing in Australia that only Yamaha can. Add test days and media commitments and you begin to realise the undertaking of YRT in 2011.
As they did in 2010, YRT will again campaign the full six round Australasian FX Superbike Championships with a full complement of riders. Reigning champions Rick Olson and Kevin Curtain along with up and coming star Pat Medcalf will compete in the FX championship. All three riders will grid up on the Yamaha R1 in the FX1000cc Superbike class while Curtain will also take on the 600cc duties making for some busy weekends for the experienced racer.
Busy boys this year
