I was just thinking of something while in the bathroom this morning. Which drivers that go down in history (for good reasons!) do you share your forename or surname with? I'm sure there are plenty of drivers known well in their said country, but I'm talking about drivers universally known to motorsport fans.

Forename: Patrick, Paddy
Drivers: Paddy Hopkirk, Patrick Depailler

Surname: Cummins
Drivers: None

I'd be interested to know. :)

I share my surname with a two times F1 World Champion and my name with a current WRC driver (not likely to be world champion).

That would be a big fat zero for me. There are very few women in motorsport so nothing for my first name and seeing as my surname is Mauritian that would also yield zero motorsport personalities.

This thread is so discriminative. :p ;)

........... my surname is Mauritian.....

So, do you prefer Ms. Mauritian, or Miss Mauritian. :p

GridGirl

Neither because it's not my surname but that still doesn't mean there any motorsport personalities from Mauritius. :)

Hmmm, first name many drivers, surname a little more difficult, only one I can think of off hand is a very good sixties/seventies navigator in the UK who visits this board occasionally and still sells navigating equipment. Not related as far I know, although if he came from around Bath there is a remote posibility!

There must be some Jans about but can't remember any. Certainly don't know of any Yeos, although there are three of us competing in the Torbay MC speed championship which probably consists of about 30-40 people :D

probably there are some, but right now I don't know, any good driver named with my first name? (it is my nickname) my surname is the same as the WTCC drivers Jorg Muller, Yvan Muller (withe the ¨)

No match for my surname, my first name, depending on form/spelling, with a former Tyrrell F1 driver, a three time Grand Prix winner, and a former British F3 champ and McLaren/Autosport/BRDC winner.

Jan Magnussen for one. Although just how good he was, we'll probably never know.

Lots of Mark's out there, Mark Martin and Mark Donahue being the most famous. Funny, both were favourite drivers of mine just on how they raced, never mind the name.

AS for the last name, no...although there is a certain pit reporter for ESPN's NASCAR coverage who shares my last name....
