Broc Parkes and Kawasaki World Superbike team-mate Sheridan Morais, making a special guest entry in this weekend's MCE Insurance British Superbike triple header at Brands Hatch, finished Friday practice first and second on the timesheets.
James Ellison was ranked 28th and last after failing to set a fast lap in either session.

Great to see Muggers has a decent mount at last..........so far, so good....fingers and eyes crossed for a good qualifying and race result.

James Ellison admits he has had a disappointing start to the weekend at Brands Hatch, with the Airwaves Yamaha rider suffering technical problems that have hampered his first two practice sessions.

Ellison was unable to get out on track in the opening session of the day and was dipping in and out of the pits for a handful of laps this afternoon in the second session. The team are now working hard to resolve the problems in time for the final free practice session ahead of qualifying and the first race of the weekend tomorrow.

Karl Muggeridge made his debut with the HM Plant Honda team at Brands Hatch this morning, setting the second fastest time, proving that he is ready to make his mark on the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship in association with Pirelli this weekend.

Muggeridge admits he took it steady to begin with in the session as he adapted to the HM Plant Honda, but with the track rapidly drying ahead of the next free practice session, he is eager to up the pace ahead of the first race of the weekend tomorrow (Saturday).

Broc Parkes and Sheridan Morais put Kawasaki at the top of the pack in the second free practice session at Brands Hatch, with the duo putting Paul Bird's team ahead of their regular BSB championship rivals.

Parkes had been at the top of the times for the majority of the session and was clearly getting to grips on his return to the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit, with Stuart Easton third for Hydrex Honda.

Tommy Hill continued to improve his pace this afternoon moving fourth ahead of Chris Walker on the Motorpoint/Henderson Yamaha.

You mean as opposed to his dud Ten Kate ride he had ;) .
It really is great to see him up at the pointy end. It has been a long time. Both he and Parkes have had pretty wretched years so hopefully this can be a bit of a boost to the spirits for both of 'em. Tommy Hill the same. Poor chap had a rotten few years despite clearly being fast. Would be great to see Kwaks and Zooks fighting for the win (without being taken out by stray Hondas :uhoh: ).

Championship leader Leon Camier gave Airwaves Yamaha a boost by resuming his place at the top of the MCE British Superbike timesheets during third free practice at Brands Hatch.

Having only managed the ninth fastest time following the opening day of action, Camier swept to the front after ten minutes and would stay there for the remainder of the session, setting the fastest lap of the weekend thus far with a 1min 26.776secs.

I heard Tamada has an injury, can not confirm what the injury is.

Oh yeah, he broke his finger in the last race, now I remember. Still a bit surprising he wouldn't race. A mere broken finger doesn't usually seem to bother these blokes.

themo

If this was a world superbike round and not a BSB round a broken finger i don't think would have stopped Tamada racing.

NinjaMaster

Yeah, I assume he's playing it safe given his injury riddled year. I thought he might like to try build on his positive results at the WSB round with some competitive testing in between rounds.

Very nice. Gotta hand it to Camier, he's a class act on that Yamaha. Really hoping Broc can give Leon a run for his money and gain some confidence to put his green machine further up the WSB grid a bit. Should be some good racing. Is Andrews out injured from the Brookes punting incident a few weeks back?

Great race 1 on Saturday and for Parkes and Muggers to get away at the start as they did but the talent of Camier soon resulted in him rounding up Muggers. However, Parkes excellent performance held off Camier until lap 10.

Leon Camier began his quest to become the first-ever 'triple' British Superbike race winner at Brands Hatch in style by winning the 1st race.
Now just one win behind Niall Mackenzie's all-time record of triumphs in a single season, Camier has the opportunity to surpass him should he be victorious in the two remaining races this weekend.

Congratulations to Camier. Good to see that Parkes did well too, just as Easton, Muggeridge and Tommy Hill.

One question: was Niall Mackenzie a British rider or a Scottish rider? There is a Niall Mackenzie in the World Championship Motocross and he is a Scottish rider, so that is why I am asking this question.

On the quiet it's a bit of an odd top ten, with Richards, Brookes, Andrews and Guintoli having had spells of varying length of injury (Sylvain was second in the standings at the time of his injury, of course). Quite surprising to see Harris and Lowry up there after up-and-down seasons, although understandable when others have been missing races. I can see John Laverty breaking into the top ten by the season's end - he's really coming along on what is really an unfancied Kawasaki (although controversially painted red!)

The BSB site list each rider's bike next to them, and amusingly for Michael Rutter this year it actually says 'Various' :p [he's ridden four different motorcycles in this year's championship now]
