I've decided to allow gravel tyres to be used on Harwood Forest 2 - the bug is definately there.

So we can use the mod from the French site instead of the Kazhol site?

NeverKnow

From what I can understand the mod from the french site only changes the textures of the stages and doesn't include physics which would turn gravel event to tarmac one. So you will still need to use the physics file from Kazhol website to run the event properly. Although I don't know if the french mod and the physics from Kazhol work together. On a further note the french mod has New-Bobs stage and the Kazhol mod has stage called Greenhills.

NeverKnow, if you don't want to download the French mod then I guess we can scrap Greenhills from the rally. What do you guys think?
It was mistake by my part. As it turns out both mods have Greenhill stage which has been turned to tarmac stage(textures at least). I was misguided because the readme from the french mod indicated they have new-bobs instead of greenhills. This would have meant if someone would have used the french mod and the physics alone there would be gravel texture but tarmac grip. Luckily it isn't the case at the moment.
I have no problem with the Greenhill stage and I think it is the best tarmac stages in the whole rally.

I was actually thinking Chironhead was brilliant...

So which mod are we to use for the Irish rally?

NeverKnow
31st July 2009, 15:59
From file comparison I figured out that the files are the same. Only difference is that the mod from french site is in prettier package (though doesn't include physics file).
So either one will do as long as you use the physics file from Kazhol website

So all i need to do is install the TrackSettings and Tracks configuration files into the game?

lcd

So all i need to do is install the 2 track files into the game?

1. Install Ireland tracks package of rallyesim site...

2. Copy/paste contents of Ireland physics of Kazhol site,
Into rbr maps folder...

3. You're done!

Now you have Ireland textures and tarmac physics
for the stages we are to run!

Day 1 complete!
As being for the 1st time behind the wheels of a Gp.N car
I have to admit It felt much better than I had Imagined!
Good start In Harwood Forest, but I had a couple of scary moments
In Falstone, so I used the breaks many times I guess!
In Chirdonhead things were better, but I think I must drive faster
tomorrow!

Very satisfied with Mitsubishi Evo X, though It's a beta version!

Bruce D
31st July 2009, 22:34
Day 1 went rather well for me. Ok, Harwood was tricky and I spun a few times so the time wasn't great, but Falstone was consistent enough and relatively clean and Chironhead went very well. The Polo is great, maybe running a little too high ground clearance but with the bumpy nature I'm reluctant to lower it.

Don't forget to run gravel tyres for the 2nd Harwood stage on day 2.

Im finding my Subaru N12 a tad slow in places but overall its doing good.

Day 1 completed.
I didn't have any accidents but I was drivining really slowly to get any good times. Too cautious to be quick.
I nearly went into a ditch on SS1 when I suddenly lost traction at rear before a bridge. Luckily I was able to catch it in time.
On SS2 I had near spin when once again rear started to step out. I wondered why it happened and watched stage replay. To my surprise I found out how narrow the roads really were. On those occasions when I had snap oversteer I had been on the gravel with one side and I have been driving too loosely.
I will try some setup changes for day 2 and hopefully get some time back. It really is a very tough rally.

lcd
1st August 2009, 09:31
I'm thinking to lowering the car a bit and make the suspensions stiffer.
Those narrow asphalt roads are really vicious...

1st August 2009, 10:16
Day 2 complete.
Things didn't went as well as I would liked. I tried few setup changes like using stiffer dampers but it didn't quite work that good. Also river crossings were very dangerous and my car pogod over them if I drove too fast.
SS4 I started well but near the end of the stage I had half spin about 200m from the end of the stage.
On SS5 I used gravel tires with tarmac suspension setups because my team manager thought that we would not need gravel spec dampers. Overall I am pleased with my time on this stage but I don't know how fast I was compared to others.
SS6 went also well although I had two half spins at the junctions because I was too agressive on the entry to those corners. Also at the river crossings I slowed down because I didn't wanted to go off.
Overall I am pleased to have finished the rally but I know I would have been faster if I had been more prepared with better pacenotes and more stable over the bumps tarmac setup.

Just finished the rally!
My first Gp.N experience was...scary I'd say!
Day 2 was even tougher; just couldn't stay In the road no matter what I did!
I really struggled to finish Shepherd's Shield and entered Harwood Forest II with a hope to make something good,
but I was just a couple of seconds faster from first day's run; been very lucky while crossing the river though...
In the final stage, I realised from the very first meters that things would go wrong If I push too much,
so I decided to keep a mid tempo, In order to finish the event...
I shed a lot of sweat for this rally-Probably the toughest event so far!

Cool photos NeverKnow!
I'll post some of my scary moments tomorrow...

Looking forward to all competitors stage times!

Hmm, doesn't seem to be any more entries besides us 4, so I'll release the results tomorrow morning (my time). Interestingly enough, the guy that won the most stages didn't win the rally... :S

Next event will be Monte, then I see there's a night mod out - tried it and its pretty cool! :D

Great rally Indeed!
Loved those close battles with NeverKnow and Steve In ss2 and with NeverKnow In ss4/ss5!
I guess the two of us, will solve our differences In France! :D

Good work Bruce, make next event tougher! ( Bring night stages In..) ;)

It really was close battle in some of the stages. Especially between Bruce and Steve on SS3. Sorry about the number of competitors though because it really was a very good rally.
Good job Bruce at organising this rally. When can we expect the next event?

Bruce D
3rd August 2009, 12:33
I was thinking this weekend would be a good time for the rally. I have another long weekend as Monday is apparently a holiday here so it'll be easy for me to run.

I was thinking for the Monte - Monte mod, all rain, run at night. Mwhahahaha! :D

I have one more rally up my sleeve but I think I'll wait until the end of the season to run that one, if LCD doesn't mind. Don't wanna hog your idea here mate! That one will be for everyone - all original stages, all clear conditions, all in one rally - yup 37 stages for one rally. Thats the one I've always wanted to organise.

As for this rally, yeah it was close in stages and I loved that. Pity I spun twice on SS1 and again on SS6, otherwise I might just have won this one. Oh well, less mistakes next time. I liked us all running N4 cars too.

Like a proper "old" rally used to be. Except this will have 1 day of snow and 1 day of tar thrown in for good measure.

I also want to run a rallysprint over the PTD Rallysprint stage - thats like we used to do in SA, 4 runs over the same stage. Don't know if any of you have tried that stage yet (you need to the RBR czech plugin to run it offline)?
