Well, it is official, Ford is using the Mustang for its Nationwide entry of the COT, and unlike the Cup car, these cars really look actually pretty appealling. I know...some of you wont buy that these cars will race better, but I think if anyone in NASCAR, whether it be team owners or officials thought that COT wasn't working, we don't have the announcement of the COT intro for 2010.

Here is the Mustang:

the CoT looks so much better with a spoiler, but the mustang decals are horrid, do not flow with the front at all.

so, is this assuming Chevy will still be the Camaro, Dodge the Challenger, and Toyota, as a Prius :p :

Celica would have been ok, of course they don't make it anymore. The new Solara is fairly sporty, so i'd go with that instead of the Camry.

Since the COT doesn't resemble any production car, they could put any model's graphics on it. The COT is 13 inches longer, 1.5 inches narrower, 5.5 inches lower than the stock Mustang with a 2 in narrower track. At least the stock Mustang is a rear driver.

It's not a bad move as far as marketing is concerned. At least you can associate the Mustang with performance.

GM keeps saying they want to go with an Impala, which proves how they ended up in bankruptcy I guess.....

My husband drools over the Camaro but he won't part with the coins it takes to buy one. :D

I can't believe Chevy isn't planning to use it in the NNS. Very dumb move and a lost opportunity. The Impala is a really nice looking car but that flying brick of a COT looks nothing like the production car.

He's better off not buying it. The new Camaros are lemons. The Camaro5 forums will back me up on this.

Andrew don't be saying that. They build em here and jobs of my neighbours kinda hinge that Camaro and the Impala being good cars. I suspect it is early production issues you get with any first year roll out....

And aparently, I'm a stockholder in GM now. I've got a vested interest in this too. I'm sure they'll fix it over the next few years, but I expected better quality from such a hyped-up rollout.

I'm also a stockholder in Ford and that COT makes me sick.

I'll take the challenger over the camaro. the Dodge is way better looking IMO

I honestly don't think buying a model from the first year of production is a good idea anyway.

My husband had a Canadian-built '79 GMC Sierra Grande that he used until 2001 when he bought his S-10. He sold the GMC for $1500 and the guy who bought it used it for several more years after that. We'd buy another Candian-built vehicle in a heartbeat.

Epic and Utter FAILURE!

That horrid piece of machinery should be put to death. Brian Wolfe I am totally disappointed. He's a long time Ford employee and Mustang racer and this false excitement over this thing is comical at best.

Its time for NASCAR to face facts, nobody is fooled by the OEM involvement here, just go ahead and put something like Arm & Hammer on the car with some nondescript headlight decals and call it a morning.

How in the world can you take Brian France seriously???

I think the mustang graphics won't be as aerodynamic as the Impala graphics. Dodge graphics are having trouble with push.

Wow. I think that car really doesn't do Mustang any favours at all... it looks to me like it's already been crashed a few times.

Chevrolet should create Volt graphics for the COT. (They could even have a fake graphic of a recharging plug.) Why couldn't other teams run Camaro or Corvette graphics?

What took Ford so long?

It's great their using the Mustang brand in NASCAR. A legendary brand that continues to stand the test of time.

And I respect the fact that Ford isn't taking any Gov't bailouts to survive during this global recession.
