Hope he's OK to resume battle tomorrow.

Wow, what a shame for Lorenzo. He will apparently ride - from Soup: "Knowledgeable sources say that Lorezo has a slight dislocation of the shoulder and a bruised ankle and foot."

Stoner is apparently relatively untroubled from his off (hobbling but seems ok to ride).

What's with Elias?!?!

Good result from Hayden, I thought Vermeulen would be a little higher.

Elias has a new frame Phantom and obviously likes it. Also, his career is on the line...

Lorenzo, Stoner and Vermeulen all suffered highsides. Stoner is ok, Vermeulen bruised and Lorenzo a dislocated shoulder and doubtful to ride.

All-in-all, it looks like a Rossi cakewalk. Lorenzo injured and Casey crook, I can't see anyone getting near him. Nice to see Nicky on the improve and I'd expect Chris the V to finish higher than he qualified.

Did Mikka Kallio start? Is Talmacsi's ride an one-off in the MOTO GP?

I hope Stoner gets over his illness soon. I'd very much like to see a three way fight for the title.

Mika is not racing due to his injured hand and Talma is an official permanent MotoGP rider after the team recently announcing the dumping of Yuki Takahashi. It is the first time since 1992 that the top class has been without a Japanese rider. Hopefully Hiroshi Aoyama to step up next year though it'll be tough as Kawasaki won't be there at all and there is doubt over Sete Gibernau's team returning.

What's with Elias? It's getting close to contract time, thats what is up with him. Always seems to get a bit of a spur along when it comes time to re-negotiate. Too little too late, IMO - give his ride to someone who doesnt coast along, theres been too many of his type on GP bikes in recent years (reminds me of Barros, a consistent under achiever).

And dont give it to a superbiker - none seem to be able to cut it in MotoGP (maybe except for Bayliss), though Spies may make me eat my words - time will tell...

Not everybody can be a Valentino Rossi in the field ;)

No seriously, I think Barros was quit okay. Do you remember him getting the 4 stroke Honda in 2002? He got more points in the 4 races he got it, than Valentino did.. He's beaten all the latest great champions at least once (Rossi, Doohan, Stoner, Schwantz, Rainey), there are not many who can say that

You can add Bayliss to that list - upon retiring, Bayliss was asked who he rated as his toughest opponent, and his reply surprised the interviewer - he said that on his day Alex Barros was the hardest guy to race against (and commented that all Barros lacked was consistency).

That KTM bears a striking resemblance to my Aprilia.
I'm sure it's 30 to 40 mph's faster however :p :

great race just wish they were not using the stupid low def, upscale it up to widescreen bleery eyed world feed on Fox---saw part of waktin glen, so of which was in fairly high def, EXCELLENT, compared to the crap shown by Fox --although there were a couple of scenes in pit area, where the camera was hi def, and it got through to the feed (must have been some accident there)

Great race! Rossi's last second charge almost ruined a great race by Pedrosa,
who rode to near perfection.

I thought the race looked fantastic. I dont know if it was the camera work, or the twisting course or the desert setting but everyone just seemed to be going like crazy.

Pity about all of the fallers, and Pedo won in the only way that he ever does, but the battle for second was great.

Good win for Pedrosa (even if he's the last person I want to see winning races)

Really battling results for Lorenzo and Stoner considering their injuries/ailments

If Stoner has got Epstein Barr virus as suggested (more commonly know as glandular fever) then he might as well write this season off and start getting some rest. Having had it myself in my 20's I know from experience that if you don't take it easy the recovery takes much longer.

Maybe I wasn't awake properly this morning but I didn't think the race was all that great but I love watching the bikes race around Laguna Seca anyway. Good to see Dani over his injuries and at the front and Nicky's huge grin after the race told us how he was feeling about his 5th place.

6th July 2009, 10:46
I've been reading about the AMA superbike race at Laguna Seca on the motorcycle usa website. A jump start by Tommy Hayden, Ben Bostrom crashing into Hodgson and Larry Pegram, and riders nearly crashing into a safety vehicle which came on to the track unexpectedly. Sounds like plenty of action there.

the camera work was excellent...it was just the fox feed.
If you watch the race on a hig def screen like 50 inches or more you would have seen the difference, esp with the commercials or with the few AMA races shown on Speed, which were higher quality than the motogp images...

with many more getting hi def tvs, then people are going to really notice it, and so will sponsors, and then the TV audience will shrink further.....

BTW--Dani really was so fast at the start, it looked to me he jumped the start, but they must have looked at that, so I guess not...

He's staying in the US to have all sorts of tests done to find out what the hell is going on

Im not too thrilled hes still riding TBH - one if he has too much of a drop of enegery he could crash out (and could do all sorts of damage) and two if its Gladular fever like some suggest that could lead to chronic fatigue among other things if it gets worse

I am really worried now

And what do I do - Dovi has 2 crashes in 2 races since I start supporting him! I apologize for jinxing an otherwise good season...
