Any idea who will be running the Fabia for Hervia? Didn't Alberto run (or was it just a test) a Polo S2k in Ypres one year?

I had a look at the regulations that are online now on their site. There is itinary as an appendix. Looks like everything stays the same as last year, only first stage will be reversed. Also looks like servicepark is at a different location. Can somebody maybe give me the gps-coordinates of service and start/finish places of all stages. Thanks in advance. :)

Of course he will be, as he's the leader of his own team, Subaru Rally Team Spain. And with him, there might be Mario Ceballos (Young driver, but not impressive so far) and Egoi Eder Valdés (The one from PWRC... Not impressive either, but it's only his first rally season). The only doubt is if they're gonna race with Gr.N FIA or Gr.N+ RFEDA specs...
The ones who aren't gonna be there are the other team of Subaru Spain, Subaru Motorsport España. They have just signed a contract with Alberto Monarri, but only for some races, excluding Principe, due to lack of funding.

Great rally, great stages!
Hevia won last Spanish event with a Skoda, i think he will be on the pace and could be a good help for Kopecky.
Fuster is not a very fast driver but a reliable one, for sure he will drive his car for 5th or 6th overall and get some extra points for Abarth.
And i dont´t think the rest of the spainards (Pons, Ojeda, Vallejo) can get good standings, they will drive group N cars with FIA restrictor. When they use Spanish restrictor (36 mm instead of 32 mm) they are on the same pace of the S2000 cars, so this time they will suffer lack of power.
I´m afraid we won´t see any Porsche on the rally, that´s a pity.
Wim_Impreza
30th August 2009, 20:30
Porsches are not allowed in ERC and IRC. I even think Vinyes with his Clio R3 can beat the best Group N cars in Asturias in dry conditions. Ojeda was already last year a bit dissapointing speedwise and he drove a 207 S2000, so with his Subaru he won't be in top 5 and even the top 8 will be very difficult I think.

In the Rally de Ferrol, Ojeda and his 36 mm restrictor Subaru got exactly the same final time than Hevia and his Super 2000 Skoda (then Ojeda had a penalty).
I don´t know whether he will use a 36 or a 32 restrictor... with the first one he will be one of the fastest but he won´t appear on the IRC standings. With the second one, he will hardly struggle to get some points (top 8).

Is he no good at development driving? I thought he was ok in the Suzuki WRC although PGA took most of the headlines in the last few months of the car's life.
Hey, maybe I am wrong about that. If this is a one deal rally he should do ok (as far as the car will allow him).
Longterm, I agree. MSD need somebody to work on the car throughout the winter and get it competitive.

They need especially to work on engine development, because there is still big difference in performance with Peugeot, Skoda and Abarth. You don't need a special testdriver to make the engine better, but i agree with you guys that they need to pick somebody for the long term testwork. ;)

We were in shakedown this morning, before doing some recce for the stages. The stages are almost the same as last year, only the first stage is reversed. In shakedown i was surprised by the pace of Hevia to be honoust. His first run wasn't that good, but the other ones were really fast. You can see by eye that the Skoda's has the better power, they are pushing like hell. Meeke was really clean on all of his runs, on the other hand Kopecky was all over the place. I think Vouilloz did only three runs, but his times were not that bad. Loix changed suspension a few times and wasn't that bad either. On the other hand Gardemeister and Wilks weren't quick at all, especially the cars doesn't show much power. Basso is quite willing but i think Abarth is down on power. We will see tomorrow on the stages if the situation will remain the same as shown on today's shakedown. Personally i think this shake isn't that representative of the stages. They are far more twisty than the shakedown, so we will see tomorrow. :)

I still think that the last evolution of offical teams is the knowledge of the car, mechanical abilities and drivers abilities... not mainly in the car.
Look at the results some privateers achieve with private cars... for ex. Travaglia and Basso

In my opinion You can't get absolutely same car as factory car from any manufacturer. It doesn't matter if Abarth, Peugeot or Skoda. Factory cars are always a step forward (for sure this step is much smaller than in WRC). Otherwise it's about how much You pay, that good car You get.
Anyway, here is one Skoda...

Good rally for Hevia but I think that on the second time on every stage, the foreign drivers will improve.
Don´t forget the Spanish championship, Ojeda, Pons and Vallejo are only 30 sec behind Hevia. Hevia will want to win the rally but he aims to win the championship.

How can he win the championship when he wasn't starting all season until Ferrol? ;)

It's impossible to win the championship, Hevia is thinking only in overall result, no chance to win something in Spanish champ. ;)

In the Spanish championship drivers get their seven best results.
There are five rallies left: Príncipe Asturias, Llanes, Shalymar, Costa Brava and Sierra Morena. Hevia have won one rally: Ferrol.
And the winner of Príncipe Asturias gets some extra points (bigger coefficient).
For sure if Hevia wins tomorrow, he will fight for the championship!

Vallejo faster than Basso on SS6
Impossible if the GTs are downgraded compared to the S2000s in IRC

On faster and wider roads this "group B" Porsche must be faster...

Yes, his car is no common GT but circuit special from SuperCup...
Tom: GTs are not running in IRC, so they don't need to be downgraded anyhow. Vallejo is in Spanish champ classiffication only.

"Nice" battle for European tittle between Basso and Solowow...
[Madeira-Rally]
11th September 2009, 16:07
Maybe something wrong with Solowow in this event.. he is being much slower than he use to be...
He is even slower than Gard. with the Corsa... maybe the Corsa have improved something, but Solowow is disappointing a lot

Very nice competition again!!! :-)
Who said tarmac events are boring? :p
Pitty the second Abarth is out already. They have another season of to many offs and bad lucks... :( But Basso in the lead, I wish him victory, such a great tarmac driver!

Yes, looks very promising. 0.6sec/km is okay on tarmac for this "new" car ;)
Hopefully Guy can keep the speed and bring home this result.
