The violence never stopped. It was there before the US invasion, during the occupation, and will continue after the US leaves. Once Iraq is back in the control of a strongman like Saddam, or under the thumb of al-Qaeda or the Taliban who will control the press, the violence simply won't be reported.

Start again? Has it ever stopped? Now there'll just be one less cause for the violence, the American troops.

The bottom line is that it's their business, their violence, their issues, their country.

For me it says it all when I see the news and hear an Iraqi say as our soldiers leave:
"Finally! I've been liberated!"
