Now we've seen Lazier's efforts in that car, with his far greater experience. What's the jury's opinion?

Personally I suspect he does have some ability, because he was a lot closer to the pace in that awful car than Lazier.

I said the same thing all along. Until someone can get in that car and do any better with it than Stanton did, I'm not going to hold him responsible for the poor results. Lazier has done as bad or worse than Barrett, and Lazier is an IRL race winner with a lot of years under his belt.

I'd say worse. Barrett got on to the rear of the pack, and finished. That's much more than you can say for Lazier.

Hope Stanton will not be getting the "hate" posts from now on that he was getting for quite a while. IMHO he is a much better driver than anyone (including me) has been giving him credit for. I'm looking forward to his return - I'll be rooting for him.

This really demonstrates how important car setup is. Same chassis, same engine, still a huge differerence in speed.

i was in the barrett garage when they made thier final run at indianapolis and didn't qualify. it was a very interesting feeling. i remember before i actually got there that morning that i wasn't feeling too good about his chances but i also felt very indifferent about the whole deal. AFTERWARDS..... i was absolutely crushed for them. you could tell in the interviews that barrett was on the verge of crying.....it was surreal.
