What happens when you take two canvasses, lots of Akzonobel Sikken paint (1,200 liters to be exact), and a Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 car and put them all together? Well depending on how artsy fartsy you are, it’s either art or a terrible waste of good paint. Seems to be a common theme these days, creating art with paintings done by a car in motion

Utterly pointless except that the car is actually useful for something now.

I would question the car's artistic ability. I think it's useless on the track and in the art studio. I wonder what else it is useless at.

Utterly nonsensical and wasteful activity - over-hyped, and the result basically sucks (if at least they came up with something that actually looks cool!!).

Made me decide never to use sikkens products... :p :

absolutely point. the MP4-24 is a **** car, why on earth should they try and make it useful? It is a rubbish car, and should stay that way! (that coming from a Macca fan)

although I would argue that the MP4-24 is actually a piece of art, i feel its actually very good looking. same its awful.

And now everyone who has seen the video knows the company responsible for the paint, simply a marketing exercise - nothing more.
Did it's job.

No, it didn't. If they had donated the x-thousands of dollars this farce production cost to some worthy cause, THEN I might say: OK... cool! I might consider their stuff next time I need something along those lines.

But wasting funds, time, and resources, and then staging it like something awesome was about to happen - only to end up with utter crap - just makes me lose respect for the people who are behind it. It sikkens me :D

Nothing but a publicity stunt, a poor one on top of that.

blah blah blah....

it's creative, a bit of fun and a company who wanted to spend some money on advertising.....

I like it.

Good thing they used full wets! Imagine if Lewis had spun it...wait, I might pay for a copy of that!

Actually I find it a waste of perfectly good paint (the MP4-24 that is, not the video!) :)

I'd rather listen to Renault's "art" than watch McLaren's somehow. That at least serves a passing semblance to a purpose, in that they can test... something?

It's a pretty common party trick for Renault, they pull it out all the time now.
