You do that....cant lose much when it is damn near worthless. Just remember tho, The US Government is involved with this. They have never run any concern that made money....

GM hasn't issued the new common (or preferred) stock yet. When the new equity is issued, it might be a good buy, depending on how it's priced. But what's out there right now is essentially worthless... unless the bankruptcy judge decides to allow the current equity holders to have a stake in the company. I don't see much chance of that happening though.

You might do what I did with CART: buy some shares just to have the stock certificate for your wall.
