Gee Petter dropped a lot of time in the second split.

Loeb said on the radio that he had multiple roll (6x) and that the car is destroyed.

Sandell stopped. Somehow I am not sad. I was very disappointed by his pace here. he should have great advantage with S2000 car here (very twisty and slow track) but he was just a tiny bit faster than Nasser!

Well, Bluuford, we are a lot of people that are sad. :(

And as you know tactics and strategy rather than stagetimes is the important thing in Greece. ;)

Mirek

Sordo crashed, two wheels off. Petter probably stood at him.

Yellow flag - stage should be cancelled.

only if Petter gets the nominated time of Hirvonen, and even then he is screwed :) . He should be faster than Mikko

tmx
13th June 2009, 10:24
Can someone explain how the nominal time given out work? Will Petter be given the same time as the second fastest driver? If in the case Ogier is second fastest, but much slower than Hirvonen, and Petter is given the same time, it would cause Petter to lose advantage and lose time gap to Ogier as well.

raybak

Petter's nominal time whould be worked out as a percentage of what his previous times have been compared to the current leader.

Even Mikko now has a brilliant chance to win this rally, he has to think manu points too now that Citroen is out.

Petter on the other hand has nothing loose. This'll be interesting.

Acropolis always offers some excitement !!! Hirvonen should take this one very easily if the car doesn't disapoint.....Solberg is no threat speedwise, my guess is Solberg will play tactics and let hirvonen tackle tommorow stages first and then hope that he can be fast enough not to llose the lead on the second loop. remeber we have 2 runs over one of the roughest stages tommorow, Agioi Theodoroi (33kms) in which last year Hirvonen had broken suspension

Athanasoulas is going for the the first major win in an international motorsport event for Greece.....AMAZING !!!!!

Malcolm Wilson will probably call this one of his best Saturdays, never say die etc etc.

Why say that about Malcolm, why not say that Sordo yet again couldn't produce the results when he was under great pressure and required to. Mind you he may come back for the restart tomorrow and pick up some points, especially if those now in front do something silly.

As an after thought, will it be any suprise if the second string citroens suddenly find a good deal extra speed? (any clandestine meetings between Petter's team and citroen hierarchy?)

Have you noticed that Ogier 10 second penalty has been neutralized? Well, not important for Latvala, as he is already in 8 points for Ford (as long as he stays on road).
And have you noticed that if Wilson keeps his speed then there might be three drivers fighting for the last 3 manu points tomorrow (separated with less than 1.5 minutes). Sordo, Henning and Wilson

In fact he's doing exactly what he's been doing past three and half years. I still think that if young driver is forced to play second fiddle to a team leader and assume "safely to the finish" -attitude, he'll never recover from that.

...and what was the problem in portugal and first of all in sardinia??

You haven´t seen talented drivers gone off before? In Sardinia he was second losing time to turbocharged car uphill on the last stage.

And some good wins. So fellows keep your negative comments on Sandell for yourselves. That would be best. And wouldn´t show your lack of competence. :o

Well, well, I think youré one of those yellous people not to be on serious forums like this.
Sandells problems today was mechanical. He´s a most talented driver, maybe not on tarmac, but rallying is mostly driving on gravel and clay.

So please spare us your silly comments about sandell not being talented.

He is the only one with a S2000 car that drives a whole PWRC season and still he hasn't done anything fast outside of Sweden and the Norway 2009 round. Sandell is outpaced by Athanassoulas in his first time in the Fabia S2000.

I think you are a bit frustrated that Andersson hasn't drive a WRC seat anymore...

where there are uphill stages there are also downhill sections...right?

and he was not able to made the gap big enough on the downhill sections to stay in front of a 300 kg heavier car....

And wouldn´t show your lack of competence. :o

if someone searches for reasons like to much uphill sections why he can/will not be champion in the by far best car than you should not call others incompetend....

I remember Anton Alén in a Punto S2000 in NORF 2007 and he was clearly much faster than anyone else in N4 until his retirement in SS21 due to a broken engine. ;) He was not much slower than Villagra and faster than Al-Qassimi in their Focus WRC's. The Fabia S2000 is faster and much more reliable than the Punto, so I think if Juha participate in NORF, he will outpace some of the slower WRC's and will be by a huge margin the fastest in N4 / PWRC.

What a day it's been. Haven't been able to follow today, but is updated now. Horrible day for the norwegians, at one point we had three drivers in top 6 and now...nothing.

Feel really sorry for Petter that was really on a roll, as I see the split times, he would have beaten Hirvonen with at least 10, maybe 15 seconds on stage 11 - and then would have been under 10 secs adrift. Too bad for him and for the excitement of the rally, but hey, he shows yet again that he really is up there and that with an even better car he could certainly win rallies again!
