How is the weather looking for the start of Day 1?

Hope the sausages and BBQs are getting cranked up!

If I am looking the weather maps then it looks like today we are going to have quite a fine day, Even the sun comes out in the afternoon. Temperature is also over 10 degrees. Then in the evening new clouds are coming from the west and heavy rain start somewhere at 4AM and last until tomorrow morning 10-11 after that there are some isolated rain showers and in the afternoon you can see the sun again, but it will be very windy tomorrow morning :-) For the Sunday still a light rain is expected, it calms down a little bit and also possibility for the sun. Temperature drops a little but not below 5 degrees.

Good morning.
Another question or poll! . Who goes there firstly of road? :p
Loeb
Hirvonen

P. Solberg
Latvalla or someone else? ;)

I'm actually really excited. First time this season I've had all the tabs in my browser open with timetable/splits/results open for a WRC event as opposed to IRC.
Lets just hope that the boys can keep on it till the end, last thing I want is for one of them to go off on stage 1 and take the ooomph out the event.

Right then, where's my Petter flag?

noel157
23rd October 2009, 09:14
11 mins until 32km of excitement (I hope).

FAlonso

Is the World Rally Radio already on air?

TMorel
23rd October 2009, 09:21
My money is Wilson being the first big name casualty (ahem "big" oh I kill me at times *g*), it's the home event with once again too much still to prove.

Hand on heart I want to see the final result Petter, Seb, Jari-Matti then Mikko, but I'd be equally happy with Mikko taking the big prize, can't complain whichever of the two ends up on top and if Mikko does win then I'm hoping it will finally lay to rest his ghosts and unlock a real fighter. Hmmmm for the good of the sport I've changed my mind, I want it to be a Petter/JML/Mikko podium :)

I hope Solberg does acquire a good result because if he dosen't some sponsors may drop him next season. They spended much money so that he has a competitive car but if he isn't able to get to the top 2 at the end, which i consider the best result possible for him, then he may have problems.

MrJan

Advantage to Mikko at split 1...

noel157

Wilson stated in an interview earlier this week that he will be going "flat out" and aiming for P5. I guess P5 is possible if things go his way with a lot of attrition.

Morning guys! Looking forward to a hopefully exciting Rally GB, with several exciting factors. First, the WRC Crown, I hope it will be decided by driving and not tech issues. Secondly, can Petter really fight for a win in his first outing in the C4 on gravel? This will probably be clear already in 15 minutes...

Good luck to you all!

What help? There isn't anything what JM could have done to help Mikko...

What's up with bashing JML anyway? Manufacturers championship is over, nothing to lose in the personal championship too. Maximum push was the only real approach to this rally. Shame that it ended like this. I was so much hoping for a victory.

We (me too) may have been a bit premature but until we hear officially I'm inclined to think Latvala went off and broke d/shaft. He is quoted as saying:
"Front left driveshaft broken. We had big moment on Sweet Lamb, I hit bank. Luckilly no more damage. We have no spares."
We shall see.

It doesn't really matter if Loeb is flying on day 1, unless he builds up a lead of more than 25 sec, which i don't think he will. I think he will back down and get behind Mikko on SS6 for better road position for tomorrow....but let's see.

Latvala said the spin came after his front left driveshaft broke, and he doesn't know why the driveshaft broke. We'll probably have to wait until after they've reviewed the onboards and the car to find out whether he hit something or not, but I'm guessing he didn't.

Al Qassimi also had his front left driveshaft break on the same stage. So I guess either a rock in a certain place that neither of them noticed, or Ford's driveshafts are a bit dodgy this time..

This morning, Loeb said he was driving on the limit and sometimes over, while Mikko said he was being a bit too careful and also needed to drive a little more cleanly. This afternoon they're mostly both talking about how slippery the stages are, so I think they're going as fast as they can, but aren't really able to go truly flat out.
