NDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - After an off-season of uncertainty, it appears one of the most popular teams in IndyCar racing is ready for another crack at the 500.

Rahal Letterman Racing hasn't appeared in the series in 2009 after losing last year's sponsor Ethanol.

Team owner Bobby Rahal said several times during the offseason that he was hopeful to have an Indy 500 program, and today the team unloaded their car from their hauler, which was still painted in the colors of last year's Ethanol ride.

Right now, the car is a painted as a throwback, and a homage to the great Dan Gurney, one of Bobby Rahal's racing heroes.

The number 17 is painted to resemble one of Gurney's famous Eagles from the 1960's.

No driver has been named to the Rahal Letterman Racing team as of yet.http://media2.wishtv.com//photo/2009/05/05/IMG00030_20090505222836_640_480.JPG

Servia is a likely candidate, hopefully Buddy Rice is a possibility.

That is one good looking car. Plus it's not red, white, and blue, like every other car out there! Seriously, it's getting hard to tell one car from the other.

I hope Buddy Rice gets the ride, he is a past champ after all. But Servia would be good too.

Servia is in at RLR.

Good to hear. The field this year is going to be stronger than last year's, actually one of the strongest fields in awhile as far as driver talent (if not Indy experience).

I am happy for Servia. I would happier if Servia got No. 8 car at KV Racing and Buddy Rice got this ride. Now I don't think we'll see Buddy at Indy this year because all the other available rides (Conquest, Fisher, Foyt) require sponsorship. Bummer.

I think the suggestion is that Dan Gurney would not be proud to have his livery on Rahal's car.

I think the suggestion is that Dan Gurney would not be proud to have his livery on Rahal's car.

That would likely be a WRONG assertion, and even if Dan didn't like it, he would be too classy to say so.

Rahal was on Bob & Tom this morning and said he called Gurney to get the exact shades for the car from the man himself
