World motor racing champion Lewis Hamilton, whose public image has deteriorated alarmingly, wouldn't have restored any affection with his remarkable snub to mentor Ron Dennis at the prestigious sport's industry awards.
McLaren boss Dennis was presented with his lifetime achievement trophy by his former F1 title-winning drivers Mika Hakkinen and Alain Prost, who had flown in specially for the star-studded event.
Yet Hamilton, who Dennis has guided from a 13-year-old to the pinnacle of motor sport, turned down repeated requests to attend the function at the Battersea Evolution or even send a short tribute to his former team boss and the man chiefly responsible for his fame and multimillionaire lifestyle.

You're an idiot.

Bringing his race into this thread to simply have a dig at him is incomprehensible.

for lewis not to even send a message to ron at the award after all he has done for lewis

"Team McLaren, similarly small-minded, did not send a single representative to Dennis's big night and the McLaren table printed on the guest list was withdrawn at the last minute with none of the 10 reserved places filled"

"McLaren wouldn't comment on their no-show except to say it was 'all very political', a reference to them pinning the blame for the 'Liargate' deceit in Australia on Dennis and their F1 operation now wanting to distance themselves from him as much as possible. McLaren added that the request for a comment from Hamilton came too late"

Fecking Hell! That is some snub. If the Daily Mail is reporting things factually, which is not a guaranteed thing.

If, if, it's a factual report, then it really does show how much of a liability Dennis had become and just how much his relationship with the other shareholders had broken down because of it.

No doubt there'll be a few who try to blame Max, completely ignoring the fact that it takes two to tango and that Dennis had his own vendetta campaign going on.

The use of Mclaren, a company he no longer had a controlling interest in, as a tool in his battle was, quite frankly, the worst decision he could have made.

Majority shareholders generally don't take well to minority shareholders risking their investments on personal disagreements.

In that respect, I can understand why Hamilton has distanced himself so much from his former mentor. For Lewis, there can be no 'loyalty' to a man who was becoming more of a hindrance than a help.

It's tough, it's cruel, but that's how it works.

Out of order.
to be fair i think hes being sarcastic at the fact you cant say anything about Lewis of fear of being labled rasist (see Sutil's Comments) Color has nothing to do with my belief that Lewis is the definition of arrogance nor should I refrain from saying that in the fear of being labled rasist

As for Ron - you take his version of events nd you take McLaren's and the truth will be somewhere in between

Regardless after being his mentor for 13 years, Lewis SHOULD of gone and really it makes my mind up on what I have always thought of him PERIOD

Someone who drives a race car for a living.

Derived from the word:

race - noun. A competition of speed, as in running or riding.

and the suffix:

ist - One that performs a specified action
Hey NASCAR is on! Let's watch all the racists go around the track in their race cars!

Sad but true. Welcome to the culture of organizations. Whether a Fortune 500 company or the Mafia, once a person crosses the organization or brings it into harm's way, the organization generally turns its back on him. And all those who seek to remain in the organization's good favor tend to do the same. So yes, that's how it works.

What with the breakup of his marriage and now this, one must assume that Ron Dennis is pretty much a broken man now - and that should give no one any joy. I've always seen him in much the same way as I've seen Roger Penske: I admired the accomplishments of the man, even when I did not admire the man. But Dennis was apparently doing things which led to his own downfall. So that's on him...

the other part to this is that ron dennis is still the head of McLaren
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/article5531559.ece

It demonstrates that McLaren is more than two cars on the grand prix grid. Dennis wants direct his attention away from Formula One to the challenge of keeping his entire business growing. He calls it "powering through the recession", and, if he is as successful at that as he was in Formula One, McLaren will remain a beacon of British technology.

Archaic swearword originating in England, originating from the even more archaic phrase 'By God's blood', but nobody really knows that or cares.

I'm not a fan of RD or Lewis, but this sounds like a show put on for the media to see how "distant" McLaren has become from Ron Dennis. Bravo, Ron. We all know that you have absolutely no control of McLaren any longer...yeah, right!

How could you be so cynical? Oh, yes, I see why.

The aboriginal community has said time and time again that they don't want the aboriginal flag to be incorporated in the Australian flag. They don't think it's appropriate. They view it as a single flag in itself. Not part of something bigger.

Please stop spreading this image. It has no meaning. And it hurts.

the solution to racism is that everyone should just learn to hate everyone else regardless of race, religion, creed, sex, age, intelligence, weight, facial features, sex appeal, sexual orientation, car preferences, driver orientation.....

Meanwhile the times, says Hamilton is a no-show at some dinner with Ron and some biwig from a bahrain (is that prounced barabarann?? as went to dance saw a barabarann so it thought I would take a chance...)....

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/motorsport/formulaone/lewishamilton/5259892/Lewis-Hamilton-snubs-McLaren-ex-mentor-Ron-Dennis.html

I think the real reason is that not even Ron Dennis wants to be seen in public with lewis...
