Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali says the Italian team may switch its development focus onto the 2010 car as early as next month if its fortunes do not improve dramatically in the next few races.

The Maranello-based outfit has failed to score a point in the first three races of the season, its worst start to a campaign since 1981, and is now facing a very tough challenge to get itself back in the championship hunt.

It can't be all that bad can it? And as BMW are proving, as Honda did before them, focussing on next year's car too early doesn't guarantee success.

And McLaren are already making a step forward despite having a slow car. Is this all hype or are Ferrari really going to abandon 2009?

I don't believe so, but if it does get too painful beyond Bahrain, they may have to go into 'salvage' mode to retain some pride and go heavy for '10.

Leave gas in the tank at weigh-in.

Or leave the tanks full during shipping. That way, when they catch fire, they'll at least get some insurance money.
