I did point this out recently.

My stance was that he was handcuffed in the last couple of years and I would rather wait to see the outcome of this year.

At the moment, you have to say the whole Brawn team is doing an superb job and that has to come from the front.

I now expect some people to say it's all Ross and the team would be doing even better if they sacked Nick just as some people have criticised Jenson for not doing a good enough job this year :laugh:

Objectivity and reason does seem to be pushed out of the frame by hypocrisy and bias :D

Because he looks like a muppet, talks like muppet so everyone expects him to be a muppet.

People claimed he knows nothing of the sport and yet this guy worked for Prodrive for a number of years - one of the biggest and successful names in the industry.

I think he did a decent job but unfortunately its easy to criticise the bigs boys who spend millions with little success and the buck stopped at Fry when it seems apparent that Fry had his hands tied by Honda executives.

Well anybody who agrees to get rid of Geoff Willis and replace him with Honda man who has no previous experience of F1 should take some blame. Regardless of whether he had his hands tied. neither Dave Richards or Ross Brawn would have aggreeded to that.

I gave up criticizing anyone but Ferrari, otherwise I'm all of a sudden the big bad wolf of the forum.
Still I maintain my views of him, even if he is now only Brawn's secretary! :D

Lets face facts. He was critices on here when his hands were tied and now the team is doing well, it's got to be all down to Brawn.

I'll hold my hands up, I've criticised him in the past, and thought he should go.

But he does come across as an extremely likable guy, and in that sense, a bit of a yes man, which isn't always the best way, especially for a team principle.

But you have to give credit, he got Brawn in, and Brawn reshuffled the design team accordingly, and they're successful. They abandoned development of last years car. And from what I've seen, majority of the decisions and factors for their success this year can be linked directly to Brawn.

So in that respect, I do still have question marks on his success, but he is accountable for the employment of Brawn in the first place, which has made the team successful.

I think the thing with Fry was that he, rightly or wrongly, was perceived as the "face" of the Honda beaurocracy that hamstrung the team when they really should have been kicking on with Richards and Prodrive after that excellent 2004 season.

I remember posting back when the Honda takeover and management reshuffle was announced, that this was going to go downhill Jaguar-style like when Ford took over the Stewart team after they had their own "breakout" (excuse the Americanism) year in 1999 and promptly introduced layer-upon-layer of corporate management.

And it duly did go downhill, 2006 wasn't bad but their sole win was down to Button's wet weather skill more than anything else.

What's happened since the Brawn buyout is great, except it should have happened four years earlier (I realise Ross wasn't there, but you get the general idea).

What is obvious is that it is "Brawn GP", not "Fry GP". He therefore, presumably, is no longer Ross's boss?

Brawn GP might be called Brawn GP, but in reality it has 5 shareholders: Nick Fry, Ross Brawn, and 3 other directors, the head of finance, the head of legal, and the head of marketing.

Aside from being a major shareholder, he is also the CEO of the company.

His relationship with Brawn is very close to Patrick Head's relationship with Frank Williams. Head is neither Williams' boss, nor his employee, he is the team co-owner and an executive director. So is Nick Fry.

He went from being an employee of Honda, to a team owner. If that's a demotion in your eyes, I'd love to get one too! ;)

The choice of team name may be more down to name recognition for potential sponsors, than who the bigger (more important) man on the team is.

I would think any sponsor would want to be linked to the success of "Brawn".

Haven't heard much about Fry recently, obviously he is more efficient in the background than giving propaganda-interviews from day-to-day.

Probably what has been overlooked, is that Fry did a good job in 2007, when quite a decent number a top specialists from other teams were lured into Honda. The full effect of this hasn't been clear until now, hence the former scepticism. But now - just wow!
