Who else is planning to go to the Acropolis this year then? :) It was the first foreign rally I ever went to (in 2003) and been wanting to go back ever since :D

Will be booking my flights over the next few days.

Psycho!
14th April 2009, 07:44
I will possibly!!!I am planning to watch Evangelistria and Thiva!!They are about 1h and a half from where I live,so they are the best chance...Back to 2002 I had been to Drosohori and it was fantastic!

Tip:If you visit us please take with you some heavy clothes, because even in the middle of June it's so cold in the mountains during the early morning!!

It is closing date for entries on Monday night, anyone know how it is looking?

Also, a question for all you Greeks, I was looking at the maps on the website (http://www.acropolisrally.gr/en/maps) and the one it has of leg 3 also has the stage that will be used as the first stage on it. Would I be allowed to drive into the white roads there to have a look at that stage in the afternoon after shakedown, or is that not allowed? And if so, how long before the stage starts do the roads get closed? The night before?

DIMI44

Usually organizers close ss three hours before 1st car timetable. Some times ss closed earlier if they expecting too much crowd but you can use some other acess given by them (ELPA.)

You can use ALL the roads when not used by organization, for example for reconnaissance by crews etc. Many of us like to go to the mountains night before for fan and to be far from family's problems!!!!
And of course is free of charge everywhere.

Yes unfortunately the stages are really spread out so will be tough to get up there if you go to even the first stage, will see how I am feeling that morning whether to go to SS1, 4 and 6 or maybe just settle for the two stages that day.

Yes, Pavlos is his brother!

I think we are talking about the Fabia that will be used by Longhi in CIR. At least that is the one that pavlos told me that they were chasing after, a few days ago. It will do the Acropolis and then leave straight away for Italy and San Marino rally with Longhi. So we are talking about brand new car.

Lambros last year showed nice speed in some stages (won 1 ss for PWRC) and would have finished top 5 in PWRC if they did not have some problems.

Pavlo????????????????????????

Hi,

I'm visiting this years rally and I'm looking for some spectacular places - like jump or watersplash - someone knows the stages or has on board video from last year?
(I was in Acropolis several times at end of 90's so just few stages are known)

J4MIE
31st May 2009, 02:01
I don't know any of the stages at all, I'm sure I have been to Bauxites before but cannot remember where it was :(

Can anyone recommend any maps to buy that will have the small roads in a decent scale? If there is one the same as they are using for the stage maps but with the much bigger area covered, and also where in Loutraki to buy them, that would be perfect ;) (I am arriving very late on the Wednesday night before shakedown)

that's why they canelled SS3 Evangelistria!
Too bad for acropolis... It's getting softer and softer, year after year since
It's been transferred away from Central Greece mountains... :(

By the way, I'm planning Day 1, Drossohori or Bauxites!

Drosohori much better, if you go to Bauxite and walk from the start there are two corners about 3 km

Antirio conect with Patra with a bridge and you are above the sea for 2-3 minutes !!!!
If you dont like to give 12 (?) euros you can take a ferry which cost less and takes you in 20 minutes.

in the middle of this page you are gonna see some pics from the shakedown if you want to decide where you want to stay and spectate

Dear NOT, as you know my Greek is not so brilliant, is that two jumps after 1.3km? ;)

the first one is described as a small jump....and 50 meters away there is another one .... so yeah it looks like a good place to be, however since i haven;t been at the shakedown place myself judging from the surrounding vegetation there aren;t many places to stand there and be able to watch both jumps.

Looks like there are a lot of complaints about the long road section up to Itea. http://www.acropolisrally.gr/en/content/382

Have to say that I think when it was based in Lamia with stages all around it was very good. I am still undecided if I will take the long drive up to Bauxites or just take it easy and wait at Thiva. Shame that they can't use more stages around there like Elatia.

yes Lamia had a proposition for this years rally as well, but was rejected and the organisers prefered to put the casino money in their pockets than organising a true event.

The organisers would set the special stages around poker tables,
inside the casino, If they could ( with F.I.A.'s blessings of course... ) :D
That's how badly they aim for money and not motorsport pleasure anymore... :(
