Tannat now travels to Qatar for the second round of the World Superbike Championship...

After a fairly dominant showing in round 1 (see Phillip Island thread) I am going to choose a different approach to this round. In round one I drove the Yamaha of Noriyuki Haga, which is rated as a 8/10 for Yamaha Team Italia by the game. My time was nearly 10 seconds ahead of both race 1 and race 2 winners.

For round two I am going to 'sandbag' a bit and drive the worst rated bike in the game, the Pro SBK Jr Yamaha, rated 2/10, AND use hard tires for practice, qualifying and the race.

So far (free practice one) I've lapped a 1:57.56, which is not quite half a second faster than Troy Corser's lap record of 1:58.053. I am confident this year's bikes will surpass this time once hitting the circuit. Stay tuned here for updates as the race is this weekend.

Interesting note: my time is about 4 seconds slower than last year's Moto GP fast lap (1:53.xx). Might be interesting to run my PS2 SBK against the MotoGP circus when the season begins at Qatar in April.....

Well-looks as if the sim truly had an advantage over the 'real thing' at this venue...

Next race is Valencia, a circuit where I am not so comfortable.

Will probably stay with the same crappy bike, and perhaps intorduce rain if necessary to level the field a bit.
