To be honest I was expecting them to pull out with immediate effect, I'm quite surprised that they'll still be around for 2 years. I think they're very lucky to still exist at all.

No great surprise: bailed-out companies can't be seen to be "wasting" money, even if that sponsorship might actually be a good thing in the longer term. At the moment, being seen to be doing the right thing is more important than actually doing the right thing.

Exactly, other than that there is no point in announcing a sponsorship withdrawal 2 years in advance

and who knows by then their financial situation my change enough to justify continuing the sponsorship
