The Monaco Formula One street circuit has been voted by British sports fans as the most popular of the Seven Sporting Wonders of the World.

In research carried out by Barclays Spaces for Sports, Monaco received 18% of the votes, ahead of FC Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium, which received 15% of the votes. Third was Beijing's Bird's Nest stadium, ahead of Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu and Milan's San Siro. Another football stadium, Maracana, finished in sixth place ahead of the Melbourne Cricket ground.

Yeah, Monaco is great. Terrible list though.

Lord's Cricket Ground not on the list? Surely they jest. Was this survey carried out in Britain? How can the most hallowed bit of turf not make it onto the list?

I'm going to write a letter to the Times about this:
Why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why?
It isn't finished but it's coming along isn't it? :D

I cringe at these types of list's!
As much of a spectacle Monaco is, give me Spa, Suzuka, or the Nurburgring!
For that matter I'll take Monza!
Like everything else in our world; Image is eveything! :dozey:

Don't get me wrong. I love "The Principality", and it's race ;)

Agree, image is everything - sod the quality of the race.
I'm sure Bernie is delighted.....

Oh I totally agree, you don't enjoy Monaco for the racing... but I think every F1 Season should have Monaco in it, be it 12 races or 20 races per season...

TBH, as I am not a big football follower I had to google some of the stadiums...

Because this poll was for the world's greatest sporting venue outside the UK ;)

For UK venues, Wembley was 1st with Wimbledon 2nd

I read this 1-2 days ago but I cant find the link
