After the announcements that Tom Onslow-Cole is getting the second RAC BMW, Gareth Howell leading the Motorbase SEAT team and now Mat Jackson entering a private BMW it finally appears that young up and coming drivers are getting their chance in the BTCC, for the first time in a very, very long time.
The BTCC will feature the 2006 Renault Clio Cup & SEAT Cupra Cup champions for the first time ever.
Renault Clio Cup
2006 - Tom Onslow Cole (2007 BTCC)
2005 - Jonathan Adam (2006 SEAT Cupra)
2004 - Paul Rivertt (2005 -)
2003 - Jonathan Fildes (2004 Irish Supercars)
2002 - Paul Rivett (2003 Clios)
SEAT Cupra Cup
2006 - Mat Jackson (2007 BTCC)
2005 - Tom Boardman (2006 Spanish SEAT Cupra)
2004 - James Pickford (2005 BTCC)
2003 - Rob Huff (2004 BTCC)

It is good that both the Renault Clio Cup and the SEAT Cupra champions are getting their chances in the BTCC.

both in the same type of car as well. I expect Mat to adjust quicker but Tom is the better long term hope

i thik tom will be quicker than matt because of WSR and the massive input on everything rather than a family run team! i will gladly eat these words though go MATT!

I think Onslow-Cole will probably end up beating Jackson, simply because the WSR operation is bigger in everyway compared to the Jackson Motorsport team. However I think Mat Jackson will have his days in the Sun.

Having watched both, I would say that Matt is naturally the quicker while Tom has had a long, money no object, apprenticeship to get him to where he is.

thought you might LOL Mat has matured as a driver and Tom still has a lot of learning to do. I am delighted that Mat is there as he is one driver that has got there the hard way by hard graft and not having shedloads of cash thrown in (Chilton and gavin smith spring to mind)
I admit I will be delighted whem Mat is standing on the top step of the podium he deserves it
