Here is Robin's latest mailbag.

Robin states that AGR is running Marco in A1GP so he can improve and get hired by another IRL team. That sounds like he will not be with AGR next season. I haven't seen much said about this. Is AGR cutting back to 3 cars? If so, what are the chances Marco gets a drive somewhere else?

I think RM was suggesting that he will be running with AGR, as why else would they be running him in A1GP. I read the first line as sarcasm.

After reading it again, I believe your right. I've seen it said that Marco hasn't signed yet for 09. With that and the question posed to Robin, I saw Rm's answer differently the first time I read it.
If it's true that Marco is yet to be confirmed for 09, is his ride dependent on finding sponsorship? Or will the family connection guarantee him a ride?

I believe his spot at AGR is all wrapped up, and they will be running 4 cars with or without sponsorship. I believe the only hold up is tying Marco's contract into the sponsorship contract so that the sponsor pays part of his contract.

He's back for another year at least. Happy to see him stay with AGR. The only opening at AGR is the one Lites seat.

marco wolud never leave AGR Michael, wolud never let that happen, even if marco had no sponsorship, daddy wolud pay for Marco ride, and i think thats what really hurts AGR, cuz Michael will always fave Marco over his other drivers, and i think thats wrong, if Michael Andretti wants Marco to be a great driver, and carry on the Andretti name, he needs to stop the hand outs, for Marco,,,i do belive Marco could be great if he got away from Michael,, cuz with Marco at AGR now, he doesnt have to even try to win cuz daddy is the car owner, and wont wake him up and say, look it Marco stop playing games on track or you lose you're ride
thats why i like Graham Rahal not racing for his dad, no faves are played, and it helps you want to race better cuz you want to finsh better then you're dads drivers,

There was really was no question he would not return. There was more chance of Danica leaving then him.

Big NEGATIVE! Danica was going nowhere. She is signed thru 2009 and AGR will not let her go after that. They will sign her for another multi-year deal.

Because they are terribly pleased with her. If it came down to putting Danica or Marco in a car, who do you think would get the AGR seat? Daddy would buy out Danica's contract before letting Marco sit out, and it would probably be the better race decision, it would just cost a lot.

Just like you kept telling us about all the races Danica would win, right?

They only sign winners at AGR, Gary. You should know that. I mean, you've got TK who has won plenty of races, but you know that Marco and Danica and Hideki are catching up. They are only twelve or thirteen wins away from catching up to him.

Danika is there to sell T-Shirts which she is probably the best in the IRL at and get press coverage galore for ???? I can't figure that out. Marko needs to be with another team out from under Michael like the Rahal kid. Prove yourself on your own and maybe you might just make it because daddy isn't doing you any favors for always having an excuse for you.

Marco aint going no where. Unfortunately...he should, just to prove himself. Mikey did it by winning but dad didn't own the team he came up with. Mikey won more races in Super Vee and other series on the way up I think than Marco has. I think the kid came to the top too soon. He will be a decent driver I think but I do also think he needs a fresh voice in his head.
No driver father has ever tutored a son save Richard Petty and Lee Petty with any success. Why? Because in Lee's case he made Richard earn every damned lap he beat the ole man at . He was a tough dude. Mikey will run interference for his kids screwups. Until he treats Marco the same as any other guy who wrecks his stuff.....then Marco will not learn.

In Richard Petty's 1st major pro race at the old CNE oval in Toronto it was Lee who put him into the fence!

Also, when Richard Petty thought he had won his very first Nascar race, the driver who finished second came storming into victory lane protesting that he won. They re-checked the scorecards and found out he was right and took the win away from Richard and gave it to the second place driver__ Lee Petty! :D  :)

Lee's attitude was that was another car. He didn't wreck Richard tho, just creased him up a little. Wrecking meant the money would be coming out that he won. Lee was all business on and off the track.

I have a very good feeling about Marco this year. I like the fact that AGR is investing in people; working hard to keep their staff on board when everybody else is laying workers off in this tough economy. The in-house driver development is just as important as the mechanical R & D.
