Going into Atlanta my own point system has Edwards leading Johnson by 58 points. So if Johnson wins, Edwards would have to finish 5th or better to win the "championship". The moral of the story is that forced parity will never be better than a real championship.

I'll give complete results after the race.

I broke the tie at 26th place by total number of top 10 finishes.

I rewarded winning. I rewarded consistency. And no one ran away with it. My work here is done!

To save myself time I only counted the drivers that started every race.

sorry, but I prefer Stan's "Classic" system better.

Andrew...I like your system better but I don't think for a second if it would change much. Jimmie was running just hard enough to keep Carl behind in the last 3 races. I am not thinking anyone could seriously think Jimmie and Chad were not going to find a way to win in hindsight. What they pulled off in the last half of the year was pretty amazing.

Carl I think had the better season, but Jimmie had the better chase. IT is a playoff system....so what you do in those 10 races is like an NFL team turning it on in the post season.
