Drove all the way to Sheffield yesterday to a specialist auction which had a silver cigarette case in it. I've been looking for one for months (after breaking the last one :mark: ) and this was my big chance to buy just what I wanted.

I even broke the first rule of buying at auction and bid against a friend to secure it. He wasn't best pleased (he deals for a living, so it pays his mortgage) but I was. He'll accept an apology and peace coffee next time we meet, I hope.

However, when I got home and produced the case from my bag with a fanfair my partner simply said "Oh, I've got one exactly like that upstairs. Thought it was just metal"

All that effort for nothing :mark:

Men!

Anyone want to buy a 1938 machine turned silver cigarette case in good order? Choice of two

I suppose you could sell it to your friend

Ebay?
I'd probably sell it to the friend if I knew he wanted it. Captive audience and all that. (Puts Lovejoy hat on). Was it expensive?

No, keep both, one in each breast pocket, to protect you should someone decide to shoot you.

Give your friend a rosebush instead.

:rotflmao: Wouldn't have kept bidding if it was :p :

Retail maybe £100 or so, auction hammer price £25 plus 17.63%.
