This will really hurt the small teams without shakers & the information to set-up their cars. :s

Wow...I just figured each series would be banned from testing at a track it races at! :disturb:
I might be seeing a lot more teams coming up to Wisconsin to test...only tracks they won't be able to test on up here is LaCrosse and the Mile. :)

So where will the teams be able to test? i see Rockingham, Texas World, Pikes Peak getting lots of business.

The part that gets to me is they killed off Preseason Thunder! i was under the impression that PT was a moneymaker for Daytona, that it actually brought in spectators.

We're going to see a lot of "fat trimming" in 2009 - and beyond. What's interesting is that we - as fans - can all see how this will hurt some of the smaller teams, but it's the little guy that's chiming in and saying "this is great" in all the interviews so far. Weird. Maybe they are just really chugging the NASCAR Kool-Aid lately and everyone's just happy to agree - lol

Until NASCAR talked with the team owners about this, they were thinking about allowing more testing. I do have to give them brownie points for listening.

Im with you. Ive always thought that banning testing would help the little guy. What really is gonna kill off the little teams and some mid level teams is lack of sponsership money. In this climate whos gonna want to sponser a team running 20th or worth just to get there product name on TV for 20 seconds a race.

The smaller teams were disadvantaged regardless. During testing the multi-car teams like Roush and Hendrik have a huge advantage because they have a large pool of data and information to share and work with. Its no coincidence the COT has been dominated by the big teams.

Yep - kinda what I was thinking. If testing is allowed, the big rich teams will do loads and loads and loads of it. The smaller teams won't. BUT, then the big rich teams can spend more 'simulating' tests can't they? Wind tunnels, those rolling/bouncy road computer things that can mimic a track. Ok, so nothing compares to doing it for real.
So that basically means the big rich teams will maintain an advantage no matter what's done about testing time.
Only way you can ensure all teams are the same is for NASCAR to issue them with identical equipment with fixed settings all round. Hmmm, that's as likely as Jimmie losing a championship.

The rich teams will get better...the poor ones will struggle. It doesn't matter whether it is 1940 and the Ray Park's Fords clean up or the 50's with the Kiekanhafer Chrysler's or the Petty dynasty of the mid 60's. The big teams with sponsors and factory support will win no matter whether you stop all testing or allow all testing. This is a law of racing that isn't new. It has been part of stock car racing for as long as it has been around
