Any idea where the best commentary team in motorsport will end up in 2009, now that Eurosport dont have Moto GP?

Mamola is the Ducati Doubleseater rider so he should be in the MotoGP paddock next season even if not as a commentator

One assumes the BBC will keep on with their own commentators though?

Maybe they'll just move to Eurosports WSB coverage??

I wonder if that is the case tho. I wonder who covers the costs of the Ducati double-seater, does anyone know ? People pay money to get a ride on the thing but I think most of that ( if not all ) goes to Riders for Health.

I expect Eurosport was paying Randy's travel expenses, so unless someone else is going to pick that up, there might not be a Randy piloted two-seater next year.

With the Beeb announcing their F1 team I was hoping they'd also announce that the whole Eurosport team had been signed. Ah well, never mind - we can expect third rate coverage next year.

A little birdie told me that Toby Moody was actually in the frame of possibilities for the BBC F1 spot at one point, but in the end they went for Legard who had already been with the BBC.

Unfortunately the BBC keep their old commentary team, so no room for Julian, Toby and Randy.

An utterly shameful decision. Not only that but the coverage will be nothing like what Eurosport provided. What planet are Dorna on??

sorted, British Eurosport retain Moto GP, showing practice, qualifying 125, 250 races, and show the Moto GP itself on delayed transmission just after BBC finish showing it live. commentry team of Julian and Toby remain

Great news, assuming that Julian and Toby remain (can't see any reason why they wouldn't).

Let the party begin! :D

So is anyone here going to wait to watch the MotoGP race on Eurosport?

I dont think I will, I will watch 125 and 250 from Eurosport and then change the channel for MotoGP, if the race is good I will also watch the race again from Eurosport.

Julian and Toby will remain but not Randy.

They will also do most of the races from a studio not trackside so we wont get all of the inside gossip they used to get from walking around the paddock.
