Brawn's group has the most pressing task: It must come up with proposals for an all-new F1 for 2011. It has until the end of October.

Well that's promising. if it took them all of August and half of September just to decide who's doing what, I'm sure they will all be able to agree on a set of technical rules by the end of October ;)

What tends to happen is that in tough economic times, sponsorship money gets diverted from other areas of motorsport into F1. Large companies feel that spending big money on F1 gives greater value than spending modest amounts elsewhere, because of the TV exposure. This happened in the recession of the early 1990s.
