ok here goes my imaginary grid in no particular order!
Ferrari: Kimi Raikkonen - Phillipe Massa
Renault: Heikki Kovalainen - Sebastien Bourdais
Honda: Jenson Button - Anthony Davison
McLaren-Merceedes: Fernando Alonso - Lewis Hamilton
BMW: Robert Kubica - Nick Heidfeld
Porsche: Ryan Briscoe - Nico Rosberg
Red Bull-Lamborghini: Mark Webber - Rubens Barrichello
Spyker: Robert Doornbos - Christian Albers
Toyota: Jarno Trulli - Christian Klein
Williams-Audi: Vitantonio Liuzzi - Alexander Wurz
Prodrive-Hyundai: two obscure korean drivers
Team Australia-Holden: Will Power - James Courtney (hey an aussie can dream!!!)
Well there ya go, some teams have stayed the same, and some teams have made some wierd and some wonderful transformations! :D discuss.......

Hmm........... Juan Pablo Montoya for... any team really.
Susie Stoddart, Vanina Ickx as well, and Katherine Legge. Not really bothered about who they drive for, just so long as they're competitive.
In terms of manufacturers, Cosworth back, Ford back, also Porsche and Subaru.
Also Team Brooke, run by me, with Ford engines, green cars, and Ickx and Stoddart with race numbers 1 and 2 :D although I'd try to think of something more imaginative than "Team Brooke" for the team...

Ferrari: Michael Schumacher & Gilles Villeneuve.
McLaren Mercedes: Ayrton Senna & Mika Hakkinen
Williams: Nigel Mansell & Nelson Piquet (it had to be)
Honda: Kimi Raikkonen & Giancarlo Fisichella (the comparative results would be hilarious)
Red Bull: Juan Manuel Fangio & Jim Clark ( dunno really. just be interesting)
Toro Rosso: Juan Pablo Montoya & James Hunt/Vittorio Brambilla (that would be great)
Super Aguri: Chiaki Kuriyama & Kobe Tai (google them) (they'd probably be just as good)
Renault: Jean Alesi & Alain Prost (could be great fun to watch)
Spyker: Estaban Tuero & Pedro Diniz (amazing)
BMW: Heinz-Harald Frentzen & David Coulthard (underrated men)
Toyota: Fernando Alonso & Pedro de la Rosa (justice would finally be done)
i hope ive understood the context of this thread now.

ahh geez i went all modern and futuristic with my grid thinking that was the way to go and then you blokes come along and pluck all these blokes out of various pages of history books and make my grid look positively boring in comparison...
oh well i have a red bull-lamborghini and could you just imagine that! They would put on a parade with fireworks, aeroplanes, acrobats and bull fight events just to announce the acquisition of a new coffee machine to put in the lunch room

Yeah, they wouldn't even have to change the badge. It would be great to see Ford back, the American manufacturer has won 176 Grands Prix. If they had enough money to invest, they would have been successful once again.

What concerns teams, then I'd like to see yellow Seat racing team in F1. :)
It would be interesting to see GP2 backmarker Tahinci competing against Yoong and Ide in an F1 car. And to see, how much would Al Pease lose in a modern F1 car.
No more specific wishes or "ideals".

I'd best not let Riccardo see this  He'd rather be Ferrari's third driver than go anywhere near a Benetton of any sort again :dozey: , or (more likely) prefer to race alongside Alan Jones at Williams :s mokin:

I wasn't sure where to put Riccardo. Arrows would have been a logical place but I didn't include them and the two Williams seats where already taken so I stuck him in the Benetton because I figured the guy who drove more GPs than anybody else deserved a place on any Fantasy Grid.

Yes, on reflection I'd have Riccardo on my "ideal grid", driving the 1991 Williams-Renault. He'd be there because of his 256 GP starts, and because he's a great guy.

Ok here it is. I've decided to do two grids, one where anything goes and one more realistic grid.
Here is the former:
McLaren-Honda: Fernando Alonso, Bruce McLaren & Ayrton Senna
Ferrari: Michael Schumacher & Niki Lauda
Auto Union: Bernd Rosemeyer, Tazio Nuvolari &
Mercedes: Juan Manuel Fangio, Rudolf Caracciola & Stirling Moss
Williams-Ford: Nigel Mansell, Ricardo Patrese & Keke Roseberg
BMW: Wolfgang von Trips, Jackie Stewart, Francois Cevert & Robert Kubica
Brabham-Repco: Jack Brabham & Nelson Piquet
Renault: Rene Arnoux & Didier Pironi
Lotus-Ford: Jim Clark, Jochen Rindt & Graham Hill
Prost Peugeot (joint team): Alain Prost & Sebastian Bordais
VW-Lamborghini: Alberto Ascari & Hermann Lang
Minardi-Porsche: Pierluigi Martini & Andrea De Cesaris
As well as three or four other privateer teams.
Cozzie
5th February 2007, 00:05
And the more realistic grid:
McLaren-Mercedes: Fernando Alonso & Pedro De La Rosa
Ferrari: Michael Schumacher & Robert Kubica
Renault: Felipe Massa & Sebastian Bordais
Honda: Jenson Button & Anthony Davidson
BMW: Robert Kubica & Nico Hulkenberg
Spyker-Spyker: Tiego Montiero & Luca Badoer
Minardi-Ford: Timo Glock & Neel Jani
Jordan-Mercedes: Bruno Senna & Nick Heidfeld
VW-Lamborghini: Jarno Trulli & Sebastian Vettel
Lotus-Ford: Justin Wilson & AJ Allmendinger
As well as a couple more privateer teams

I´m surprised that Mario Andretti is mentioned only two times. Not being a fan of american drivers, I have to admit that his performance in the Lotus 78 wing car was one of the most stunning things I´ve ever witnessed within 35 years of watching F1.
So for me: Lotus / Marion Andretti / Jochen Rindt / Jim Clark
(yes, ´em have enough sponsorship to run a 3 car team :) )
