It'll be interesting to see what happens next.

I see a big "So what?" for several reasons.

1 - He used the stuff before it was added to the banned list.
2 - He's not using the stuff now.
3 - NASCAR is not the NFL or MLB even though Brian France tries to make it so.

NASCAR doesn't have a formal drug testing policy. On what basis is a penalty appropriate for banned substance abuse after the fact and for a current non-user? Dumb question I know since NASCAR can pull "rules" outta it's azz for their own purposes. Do they really want to go there?

That's the thought I had, but knowing what NASCAR can get up to, I put "It'll be interesting to see what happens next." but I forgot to put either a :\ or a  smilie at the end of it. (Both work well I think).

I also posted it to see what others thought of it too.

NASCAR is always the wild card, Vez.

I think because a doctor prescribed the drug, it CANNOT be considered drug abuse ! http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/tongue-anim.gif

NASCAR couldn't possibly issue a penalty for a doctor's treatment IMO. http://www.motorsportforum.com/forums/images/icons/tongue-anim.gif

I agree that there shouldn't be a penalty - and for all the good reasons listed here. Doesn't make sense - but then again NASCAR hasn't been making sense for awhile so it's definitely a "wait and see".

NASCAR found no reason to punish Hornaday for the use of steroids. :D

Graves' Disease is what Bobby Labonte also has, and takes treatment for it too. Harvick and Hornaday noted the disease of the thyroid in question, and this was a case of life or death, as Hornaday didn't admit this problem until Harvick and KHI general manager Rick Carelli (a former NCTS driver) noticed it.

I'm glad that this has gone the way it has. That was probably one of the hardest things for Ron to do - speak out about it.

I like this article as it explains what Ron went though.

It's just a shame that his privacy was violated. He was forced to talk about something that's nobody else's business and doesn't affect his racing.

With so much depending on the car performance, I am not sure what benefit and advantage it is to have a driver doped up - oh, wait a sec - it IS unfair, because it could keep them more awake during races at Pocono and Louden.

arf arf :D

I don't even know why this was such a big issue in the first place. The nasal spray my doctor prescribes to me for my allergies has a steroid in it.

Why is this an issue in NASCAR? They're driving cars around a track, not running around a track....

Whatever, it's not going to make me throw out my Rick Rush NASCAR painting.
