I just completed the shakedown. Difficult conditions to get used to a new car (I chose the Focus):
3.19,44
3.15,47
x (aborted run after getting stuck in the trees on the first right hand corner)
3.11,97

Runnng the Scooby as it is our BRC mount:

3:16.31 Really, really, really rough...
3:10.82 better
3:07.78 steering suspension change
3:08.47 gearbox change, a few goofs :D
3:07.78 would have been a 3:04, but lost 3 seconds in the last sector

I was running the original Subaru Impreza for the first time there. Just one trial yet - 3:10,32 I don't like the storm weather on the most stages, but SS10 is more enjoyable, good choice Tannat.

Two Basses Team Europe enters the Colin McRae Tribute Rally

Both drivers from the Two Basses Team europe has taken time out of the busy schedule to compete in this rally, JTLarsen comments:

"This has been a wonderfull opportunity to go and do some rallying just for fun, I had a little bit of rain on the UK stages, but took it as practice for the rallies to come."

I cannot believe that it has already been a year since Colin died

It was just very funny ride for me. I went with the original old Subaru Impreza and must say, the car was very nice to drive. Without any testing before, the times are not comparable with the newest Focus WRC, but it wasn't my interest. I was enjoyed to drive Colin's car, he will stay in my mind...

Have times from NOR and JTL

I also had some rain on stage 2 and 3 in the UK - and did almost everything wrong on stage 3 that could go wrong, just short of losing the Focus true Colin style at high speed (although it was close)...

It was fun to compete, now it's time to focus (no pun intended) on the next major rally on the calendar: Yorkshire here we come!

Times up shortly guys..

Happy with my own times on France (no rain) and Greece. Ran into rain on 3 and 4 in the UK and didn't bother repeating the stages :(

Be patient....

First round of the 2008 COlin McRae CMR2 Tribute Rally took place on the stages of Greece. Immediately the times were very close between NPR and Tannat, with NOR besting Tannat on all satges save SS3. Kabouter took a surprise second fastest time on SS2  staying well ahead of JTL in 4th at the end of the day. JTL kept the pressure on kabouter with quicker times on SS3 and the Superspecial. Soilid performance by Rat in 5th.

A tooth and nail fight to the end. Coming to the UK with 5.37 seconds in hand Tannat takes over a second on SS1, but then loses it all on SS2 with NOR reponding to the pressure. NOR puts in strong performances on SS3 and SS4 takes the lead before the superspecial! Depsite a slower time on the superspecial NOR takes the win by 48 hundredths of a second

A noteworthy performance by kabouter on the stages, keeping close pace ( and beating) the front runners with a stage win on SS4 assures a podium finish behind Tannat. JTL takes a third fastest time on SS3 on his way to fourth position with a solid performance by Rat to take fifth overall.

I'll present overall times next.

I really have to apologize to NOR as it was my off-the-cuff addition which made the error, but rather than finishing ahead of me by .48 of a second, he finished behind by 1.24 seconds.

Sincerest apologies NOR. I should have tallied the results fully before posting them. This error was exacerbated a bit by me using Excel to do the math (it rounds to the 10th of a second).

I think you and I both know this could have gone either way on any given day

No problem at all, Tannat. The Excel is a bi*ch sometimes, I know. The most important is a great rally with a dramatic end. Congrats to your win, I'm looking forward to next tensioning races. A bit of shame, the number of competitors on this tribute ....

kabouter
16th September 2008, 10:42
Well done, Tannat and NOR, what a close fight for the win. It's incredible how closely matched you are on every rally in the past few months.

And well done to JTL for keeping up the pressure on me, and to Rat for setting some good times (as Tannat said, a solid performance).

I'm obviously very happy (and a little surprised) with my first ever stage win in any sort of competition on this forum on SS4 in the UK. Which might have been helped by the weather (after rain on the previous two stages this one was dry) but it's satisfying to win a stage anyway :D

Thank you Tannat for organizing this nice little event as a tribute to Colin
