He probably learned it in the Special Forces. At least we were taught in the army that a soldier has to take some shut eye whenever there's a chance, so that he'll be rested and ready for action when needed.

Few have the opinions probably right. He had a full day, need rest. He is probably also getting used to be awake and hence utilize every second to make his eyes closed.
