I haven't seen much about Andersson neither in the WRC nor IRC rumours, as much as I have been reading them. Can anyone tell, what are his plans for 2010? Last year he had just merely one Sweden outing as well IIRC. It would be a shame if such a fast driver is left out in the cold.

He will start this weekends first NM round Sigdalsrally with Lancer GrpN... He won this rally last year with Fabia wrc

Petter Solberg said he found the necessary budget to compete all the 2010 season.

I think also Matthew Wilson will be confirmed for 2010 in a Stobart-run Ford Focus. Same for Rautenbach with a PH-Sport C4 WRC.

According to Norwegian media, Henning Solberg and Cato Menkerud have split as driver and co-driver. Menkerud is supposed to be in discussions with two driver about a drive in this season's championship. So far it seems Henning hasn't been able to get hold of a replacement.

Or does this mean Henning is headed for ERC rallycross (no co-driver required)and Cato wants to stay in rallying, who knows maybe partnering PG, if PG is joining Petter's team?

He was a co-driver "only".. I don't think he brought any sponsors.. He got a normal paycheck. Same with Henning, but previos years they raced for no money..
They are still good friends... So I just guess they both needed a change.. thats all.

May be true, but on the other side you'd never say anything else. That's like the thing that you never blame a co-driver mistake for going off the road, even if it's obvious. Unwritten laws of rallying... So the may be as much non-friends as friends. :)

What a shame, I've always liked Henning's and Cato's style. Good to hear they're still friends though.

And addition to the driver-codriver discussion, Mikko's comments to Jarmo in Greece 2007 after the late pacenote incident that caused a crash were "That was your first mistake with me. Don't worry, I've done dozens of mistakes during our journey."

You can clearly see it even from the onboard that the corner tightens. Pons went into the corner like as it was flat. Pons' temperament caused the crash.

Remember that in Finland 2005 Marcus drove the fastest time to the Vellipohja stage where Timo hurt his back. Bosse was driving without pacenotes for the majority of the stage.

Here in Finland we have this thing called "tiesilmä". ;)

Interesting... So Henning does not only change the codriver but also the language of the notes. It's going to be an interesting change to English (with a bit of that well known Austrian accent). Some additional notes in Norwegian wouldn't be too difficult to use IMHO, I'm sure Ilka can read "ikke cut" etc. without problems.

No, that place has not been driven in competition before, and during recce the cars did not jump there because off the speed limit, many others did hurt their back too, in the same place because of that. A jump is not a problem if co-driver know it in advance.

Well, the speed of henning has not been so good as when he started in wrc, maybe he just want a change to wake up, its not nesessairy anyones fault, or drama behind it.
Sometimes just a change can help to get the driver back on track, and its easier to change co-driver than driver too.

Good that Jean wants to get some ex-drivers involved. It was good to see Sainz included in that round table meeting in December and now this news. I fully support this, assuming that Juha has been keeping his finger on the pulse which I'm sure he has. He has more knowledge and experience in his little finger than most of the people involved in making motorsport decisions.

Michal Kosciuszko was in negotiation with Skoda Auto Poland SA, but Skoda Poland decided to ride with Leszek Kuzaj, who will do the Polisch championship. So the changes growe that Kosiuszko will drive a Ford Fiesta in SWRC. Has Michael Solowow plans to do SWRC with his Peugoet 207, or is it a one off start?

I thought about this too. Maybe after both running for the top job it might be seen as a slap in the face? Or maybe he had other plans.

Ari would be a good guy who could use his diplomatic skills to get things done. Rally is his area of expertise so it would be a shame for that to go to waste. Todt could extend an invite to Ari. It would be a nice little Peugeot Talbot Sport reunion.

Maybe because Kankkunen has no bonds to anyone involved, also Juha has a long perspective, and is a credible guy for the job.

You have a big mess in that. Egoi Eder Valdes is Spanish and is going to drive JWRC (Junior WRC) in Clio R3. Loic Mattei is not Matell and is going to drive JWRC also. Todor Slavov is Bulgarian and is going JWRC in Clio R3. There is no SAAB motorsport but SAB Motorsport and they are also going to JWRC. Patrik Flodin is going to do PWRC (Production WRC). None of these is going to do SWRC (S2000 WRC).

Ok, didn't know whether there was actually a rule that prevented this or whether it was up to the organizer to whom to give a wildcard. Of course I understand that locals are preferred, or that is the "spirit" of the rule, but seeing as there are no other S2000 cars eligible for the wildcard entry with Swedish drivers I was just wondering...

GUEST DRIVERS
Each organiser of a Support Championship rally may nominate 2 drivers (holding a licence issued by their ASN) not registered in the Championship to take part in the rally organised on the territory of that ASN. These two drivers will be known as “Guest drivers”, bearing the numbers 49 and 50 (PWRC/SWRC) or (1)49 and (1)50 (JWRC), must comply with the regulations of the Support Championships and may score Championship points.

Yep it looks like heavy pressure has been applied to a C4 to create a squashed version. Especially with the spoiler. Doesn't look disimilar to a current WRC which is good.

Will be interesting to see how the Fiesta is modified when it is beefed up in 2011.

Sääv is a fast driver(49 years old). He has been swedish champion in 2005 in the 2WD class with an VW Golf Kitcar.

It says that he has bought a new Fabia s2000 from the factory. His team are going to the factory between 22-29 january to learn the car and then bring the car home to Sweden.
After that he will test the car back home before Rally Sweden.

It will be his own private team that will run the car.

He has no idea where his speed is compared to the others in S2000-cars, but he says that he will go for it, but his main goal is not the WRC-rally but the legs that counts in the Swedish championship.

I also heard that, but it´s on FIA regulation (45. RE-START AFTER RETIREMENT)

45. RE-START AFTER RETIREMENT
45.1 GENERAL
45.1.1 A crew which has failed to complete a Day will be assumed to re-start the rally from the start
of the next Day unless they confirm otherwise with the clerk of the course by completion of the form
located in the rear of the road book and lodging it with the organiser as soon as possible before the
stewards’ meeting preceding the re-start.
45.1.2 After the clerk of the course has been informed of a retirement, the crew must hand in their
time card. When retirement is on a special stage, that stage time will not be recorded.
45.1.3 In the case of an exclusion under Article 33 of these regulations, the competitor concerned
will be allowed to re-start the next Day. The time penalty will be applied from the TC at which the
concerned competitor has exceeded the maximum permitted lateness.
45.1.4 Any crew which has retired from the final Day will not be classified.
45.2 PENALTIES
For all crews which restart a time penalty will be applied.
This time penalty will be as follows:
For every stage or super special stage missed: 5 minutes.
However, should the first time a special stage or a super special stage that is missed be that run on
Day 1 Section 1 (as in Article 2.5) or the last stage of a Day, the penalty will be 10 minutes. This 10
minute penalty can be applied only once in a rally.
This time penalty will be added to the fastest time of the drivers’ priority group (P1, P2, P3) for each
missed stage, which shall include the special stage or super special stage on which the crew has
retired.
For non-priority drivers, this time penalty will be added to the fastest time achieved in its class by a
non-priority driver.
Should retirement occur after the last special stage or super special stage of a Day, the crew will
nonetheless be deemed to have missed that last special stage or super special stage.

For the "non- french" speaking people amongst us i will translate this article a little bit. It says that Thierry Neuville will run in six rally's for JWRC with an Citroen C2 S1600. He will be navigated by Nicolas Klinger and they will run with a car prapared by the team around Philippe Bugalski.
This is good news for us Belgian's ofcourse. :)

Autosport this week are reporting that Alister McRae will enter Rally Jordan in April to compare the pace of the Proton to the SWRC boys. Jordan being a key market for Proton.

He will also do full Asia-Pacific and selected IRC. Supposedly 14 rallies this year.

I heard that Alex Broccoli will do JWRC in a Clio R3, prepared by the greek team Vergina Inforally, which will also prepare Eder Valdes's Clio R3...

Brazilian Paulo Nobre will compete in PWRC 2010.He will do Sweden,Jordan,New Zealand,Finland,Japan and Wales.

From past experience, Automobile Club de Monaco does NOT respond well to deadlines or other pressure ... THEY are Rally Monte Carlo, THEY will decide what they want to do.... if WRC makes pressure, IRC will give them good conditions and welcome them with open arms (as they did the last 2 editions)

So a self centred media and TV company (I guess a lot know what tv types are) think they can bully the most obstinate and self opinionated rally organisers into re-joining WRC. I can see this leading to Monte becoming a stand alone event, similar to Dakar and Le Mans with blanket Eurosport coverage, (again similar to cycling's Tour De France) IRC will eventually fade away and WRC will be the championship, but I guess without Monte.

Well, maybe is good for the promotor to know what events will be in the series, it somehow helps to sell, plan and develope. I have no problem with understanding this ultimatum, if monaco dont want to play, there is a need for a replacing event, a suitable can be difficult to find.

DIDN'T THE F.I.A. intend make the WRC cheaper?
Even with that they do not succeed apparently.
There are yet already rumours that we will not see in 2011 the world 1600T Sport engine!
Citroën test the DS3 WRC with the 2-liter engine from the WRC C4!
Ford is also already intrested to go on in 2011 and use the engines from the Focus in the Fiesta S2000.
Also there is already a discussion to continue with current WRCs cars in 2011 and change just to S1600T afterwards!

@morganmilan: The situation in Greece is also bad, due to the economic crisis...I don't think that many drivers will do all the championship and we don't expect many entries this year...No news yet for any more entries though...However, we expect one or more S2000's this year (not Kaltsounis's one) in Greece. Also, it was heard that Papadimitriou will run in some gravel rallies in Italy, but no more news about that...

Thnx Tolis. So I guess no Corsa S2000 this year in Greece. It´s a pity that car was not developed enough...

Sorry, my fault...I think that Kaltsounis may again run in 2-3 rallies in Greece with the Corsa... (I meant except for Kaltsounis's car). ;)

Bruno Magalhães has been invited to test with Kris Meeke in France, on gravel roads.

The test will be held close to Narbonne.
