View Full Version : 2009-NO WRC Monte-what to do?

This thought crossed my mind, so I thought I would bring it up.

The FIA starts that silly rotational system next year, resulting in no WRC Monte, but there will be an IRC Monte.

So what are we to do for the 2009 CMR2 WRC?

Perhaps we should have a CMR2 WRC and IRC.

Curious what everyone thinks, and what the organizer plans to do ( I already know as he is a purist)

A CMR2 IRC would be great too!

A new serious CMR2 championship would be great as I might not host the BRC next season.

I had thought about this, but didn't want to see three active CMR2 series on at once.

You saying this provides some comfort..

I'd like to continue organizing the CMR2-WRC(that unless someone else wants to do it, as you all know my work here hasn't been the best due time restrictions).
So if JT can organize IRC, then we could have two great championships.

here's the 2009 WRC calendar

Ireland(France) - 01 February
Norway(Sweden) - 15 February
Cyprus(Greece(M)) - 15 March
Portugal(Kenya) - 05 April
Argentina(UK(M)) - 26 April
Italy(Australia(M)) - 24 May
Greece - 14 June
Poland(Italy) - 28 June If the rally is run on tarmac, as I think it is
Finland - 02 August
Australia - 06 September
Spain(France(M)) - 04 October
GB - 25 October

Is there snow in Ireland in February?

Where is Paddy when you need him?

Sorry, I'm not interested in doing the CMR2 IRC.

Jokum

The Intercontinental Rally Challenge - A rally championship created by (amongst others) Eurosport.

No WRC cars, no single tyre supplier etc... in other words, top rallying at entry level.

It does sometimes snow in Ireland in February... But rain is almost a certainty.

Tannat, how about running the remaining rounds of the IRC to try it out..

There is still a championship to fight for, and besides.. The CMR2 BRC didn't really get a strong field untill the 5th round last year, so it takes a while to build a new championship.

Rally wise we look quite busy for CMR2 events for the remainder of 2008...

I think I'll pick it up at the end of the season, with a practice round in December
