It is obviously that Bruno will not drive the BF car. He is a Peugeot driver and he was invited to make this tests by Kronos maybe because he has a better knowledge of this terrain...

Apparently! ;)
Well, it's just some amateur competition, the cars don't need to be homologated, so you can't forbid him to drive such car :)

Malyszczycki participated both in hill climbs (Fabia WRC) and rallies (second division, C2 R2). In both cases because of better car he won the title. We still must wait to see his real speed.

Beside's Belgium (Casier & Auqieur) and Austria (Waldherr & Rosenberger), I think there will also a Polo S2000 running in Norway? What about the rest of them, where will they be running? there is 1 car for Waldherr, 1 for Rosenberger, 1 for Casier, 1 for Auqieur , 1 for Danneburg ( Norway ), and 3 more cars are ordered and will be built, we need cars for Gravel and Asphalt, so when i say 8 .. its 8 believe me.. and we have still 2 Super 1600 !! also the structure change a lot at RGRS, they now have a state of the art service truck and can manage all programmes and we will be seen more in the IRC this year with the Polo... http://www.jackdekeijzer.com/images/img7797web.jpg

Many people always said we had small service trucks.... well its history now... its even longer then the Kronos - Peugeot truck.... :) so now we can also compete on this level.. :)
we all are positive that the hard work we ( RGRS and Freddy Loix ) did in 2007 ( the 1st year of the Polo S 2000 competing on Asphalt !! ) will pay off soon, and with the top drivers we have the results will folow... so watch out Peugeot and Fiat..... its better you ask this question to Freddy when there is a Polo in front of him on the Podium..... :) then we will know.......
i think he will miss that he could do what he wanted with the Polo, easy make changes to his liking and i do not know if Peugeot or Fiat customer teams are working like this... at Volkswagen he was at the source and had direct influence on everything.... so better to ask him i think.... and do not forget that he made the car as it is now, a real challenger for victory with the right driver... the car made so much progress during the year and there are many more things to come.

TRT owns the car and Rolf Schmidt is responsible for lot of things, like ordering parts, coordinating races, communication with Peugeot Hungary. TRT bought the car with the help of Peugeot Hungary. Janos Toth works with Rolf since 2000, so it was logical, that he helps him in this project aswell.

There is a long interview with Tamas Tagai, where he talks about the whole project, but i don't think that any hungarian translator on the web exists...

When a hobby becomes a passion... http://www.s2000rally.com

One idea, collect al S.2000 cars in the World and publish on a free-access website. This is the main idea of a Project born on August of 2007, 50% in Brescia (Italy) and 50% in Ourense (Spain) by Stefano Zini (Stezi) and Andrés Cachalvite (Kátxal).
With the valuable help of “Pluto” (Czech Republic) and Paulo Freitas (Portugal) we started this trip. It wasn´t easy, lots of hours updating a database, thousands of problems with Plates and liveries but the sacrifice give results.
We know that keep our new home updated to everybody will be a hard and sometimes ingrate work but when you make something like that with passion and with good friends nothing is impossible. We really hope that you that now are reading this lines will visit us whenever you need to know something about S.2000 World. We want that our hobby will give the information that only a few people was used to have on their pc´s.

We also want to say special thanks to the people who helped us to complete this long travel:

Jack de Keijzer (from Rene Georges Rally Team) – http://www.renegeorges.be
Sergio Castellano (from Rallyaccion Canarias) – http://www.rallyaccion.com
Alessandro Bugelli (from Sistema Comunicazione) – http://www.sistemacomunicazione.com
Paolo Marcolin (from Marcolin automodellismo) – http://www.marcolinautomodelli.com

And for sure to all photographers who post their their pictures on internet who helped us to complete our website (Site wont be the same without their work). Their names are below every photo.

The MG S2000 Sport is rallying on two different national rallies in the UK on Saturday 5th April.

Mark Higgins / Rory Kennedy will be debuting their Bill Gwynne Motorsport run / Eddie Stobart sponsored car at No 1 on the Brick & Steel Border Counties Rally in Jedburgh in the Scotish Border region.

Stuart Jones / Andy Bull will be driving the same car they used on the 2007 Rally GB, and will start at No 6 on the Pro-Art Signs Red Dragon Rally in Cardiff, Wales.

Both events are being treated like a pre-Pirelli International Rally test session. Both crews are planning to contest this event - Rd 1 of the Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship - and there is talk of a third MG joining them for this rally, although nothing has been officially announced yet.

MG Rally
7th April 2008, 21:00
Two years after making his British Rally Championship debut, 23 year old Welshpool resident Stuart Jones returns for another attempt at the title. Stuart will contest the series as a works driver with one of the most dynamic cars to compete in the British Isles in quite some time, the revolutionary MG Super 2000 Sport.

Stuart, who was the 2004 Peugeot Super Cup Champion and winner of numerous rounds of the Mitsubishi Evo Challenge, will be partnered by experienced co-driver Andy Bull for the full campaign. This could also include a selection of events in Europe later in the season, as the young Welshman takes on the very important role as a works driver in the MSD run project.

After impressing team principal David Whitehead on the Wales Rally GB in 2007, Stuart was offered a dream seat as the works driver for 2008. This role also includes being involved in the testing and development of the new car. Feedback from Stuart will be used to provide setup data on the customer cars in the U.K, Ireland and Europe.

David Whitehead: MSD and MG are delighted to have teamed up with Stuart Jones. We see Stuart as one of the UK’s emerging rally talents, so it is entirely appropriate that he is one of the first to seriously campaign the MG S2000 in the fast emerging Super 2000 category. We fully expect Stuart to take the challenge to the leading Group N competitors and wish him the best of luck.

The team also welcomes a brand new sponsor in the form of Lico Wheels (www.licowheels.com (http://www.licowheels.com)). Produced in Italy, Lico are a leading supplier of competition wheels throughout Europe, which are manufactured to an extremely high standard. With SJR Motorsport becoming the official distributor of Lico Wheels in the U.K. their common aim is to become the Number One competition wheel supplier in Europe.

Lico, who are South American based, join Stuart’s own personal sponsors PIAA, Rallytech, Teng Tools, Motorsport Insurance Service and Dacha Oak Products in supporting the talented Welshman in his bid to make it to the top of the sport.

With minimal testing having been carried out on the still new car Stuart is under no illusions about the challenges ahead. The car has come along a lot since Wales Rally GB but nothing beats competitive mileage against your rivals. Whilst we can already see gains in performance we won’t really have an idea of our pace until we arrive at the Pirelli Rally and go head to head, but I am really confident that we can take the fight to the top drivers in the Championship. We recently used the Red Dragon Rally as a test and were very pleased with how the day went. A big thanks to MSD who have put a lot of time and effort into developing the car since Wales Rally GB. I am confident that we will be on the pace from the beginning.

A recent test on the Red Dragon Rally in South Wales bodes well for the team, after Stuart and Andy experienced a trouble free day and were pleased to be on the pace of the front runners. They will now re prepare the car ahead of the season opener, the Pirelli International Rally, which takes place in Carlisle from 18th to 19th April.

I would say that technically they are the same cars as elsewhere, only the number of build kits are not the same as required for normal homologation.

Technically the cars are still required to be compliant with the Super 2000 Rallye rules, but have a relaxation on the number of build ‘kits’ that need to be produced.

Tagai said, it was impossible to have a haungarian registration, because normally the car should have 1,6 engine, but it has 2,0 and the authority doesn't allow that. So it was simplier to register it in Slovakia...

I have not read anything on that this is ment for younguns only.

On the IRC site it says: Talented Local Drivers.
It is still possible to be talented at 50+, is it not ?

If the young-gun issue is important , it need to be more clearly stated, but for me the concept is super; each host nation for the events decides who they want - the rest of the world can disagree - but does it help ? The decision is made !

Is the name about to change ?

I thought the Grande Punto was to be named Abarth GP S2000, but now I have seen a lot of Fiat GP Abarth S2000.

I thought some of the plan was to revive the old Abarth name, in rally and not the Fiat factory name.

Last year as far as I remember the small badge they are using or sites with results was Abarth's but this year it is Fiat's.

Is there a plan here, or is this just circumstances...

On the IRC site Abarth is still the badge in use as a manufacurer.

Not a big issue, but is it anyone here that know something on this ?

urabus-denoS2000

The Fiat badges that you see on some cars are because they are 2006 spec.Newer cars and works cars have Abarth badges

11th May 2008, 14:27
IRC uses Abarth Grande Punto S2000, but it is only internal naming for their championship. Homologation is for Fiat Grande Punto S2000 and this is only one right name for that car :)

11th May 2008, 18:10
I think there the story is a little confused ...
Abarth is something more than an IRC internal naming, is an official trademark and if you look on the rollcage of a Punto s2000 you can see a little plate with: "Abarth - number of the car - month year of production".
For sure homologation is referred to Fiat, but Abarth team asked many times to call the car "Grande Punto Abarth S2000" (maybe you can add Fiat before :-) )
Maybe one day Fiat and Abarth will explain in a clear way these little things.
