Best Movie Bad Guy?

With all the media hype over Heath Ledger's Joker and it's possible Oscar nomination (not Oscar WIN as they keep saying :rolleyes: because it is a vote after all), who's the very best film villain?

According to a US list, Ledger's Joker is fifth to Harry Potter's Valdamour (sp?), Hannibal Lector and some others I can't even remember.

I still think it's between Die Hard's sauve Hans Gruber and The Usual Suspect's Kevin Spacey. Neither appeared in the US list I just read - so they clearly know nothing :p :

For me it had to be Alan Rickman. I thought he was a great badie in Harry Potter, Robin Hood and Die Hard which all pretty different films.

Jesus Quintana in The Big Lebowski, not really a movie bad guy but fantastically played by John Tuturro. Tom Cruise playing Vincent in Collateral is pretty good but the ultimate has to be Nurse Ratched in Cuckoo's Nest.

Dennis Hopper as Frank in Blue Velvet (Closest thing to Satan on film)

I also like his Professor Snape in the Potter movies although he is not really a villain there. Fiennes as Voldemort is good too.
