From pole positon today Markus took his first Rallycross victory in his first rc event.. :)

What a beautiful effort from Bosse! And kenneth hansen, who finished second, was the happiest second driver one have seen for some time. It is good for RC as a sort to have a driver like Bosse. And I must lso say that this result shows how good the top rally-drivers are in adopting to new situations, not to talk abt their driving skills of course. Wonder what the result would have been if Loeb had competed in RC aswell...
I bet Bosse enjoyed beating a red coloured C4.

I went to see my 1st RC event 4 or 5 years ago, watching Pat Dorans 700Bhp RS200 blast round knockhill was an incredible sight, sadly far more spectacular than what we see in the current WRC at the moment.
Its fantastic for the ERC to have his talents.. well done Marcus.

Sweet. I just watched the race :up:
Good show of Bosses driver skills, after a few events it will be difficult to beat him, now he waited a bit too much when he did drive in front.
Is there anywhere to find video of this ERC event and Momarken last weekend online?

Great result from Gronholm, I did not expect him to be up there so quick.
He should be at the Dutch round next. Can't wait to see him there. It's a completely different track than Holjes and no jokerlap. I wonder what he'll do there.

If you have Sky Digital and Setanta, it is on Setanta Ireland. I just stumbled across this earlier today. I saw the orange Fiesta and thought it looked familiar, then I realised what it was! :D He did well, he was hit a few times by the Skoda, but that didn't put him off.

You forgot Björn Waldegård, who became the 1974 ERC runner-up to Franz Wurz (daddy of Alexander Wurz).
But I would rate the victory of Anders Kulläng (Porsche Carrera RSR) in the 1977 Swedish ERC round at Vendel-Bergby as well as the 3rd place overall of François Delecour (Ford RS200 E2) in the 1992 French ERC round at Bergerac-Faux even higher, as both where also complete RX novices by then.

Not 100% correct. Marcus set the fastest time in the first free practice but was runner-up to Norwegian Sverre Isachsen in the second free practice. In the official time practice Marcus was 27th, due to rain, wrong tyres and wrong set-up, and, therefore, one should forget about that. In the first qualifying heat Kenneth Hansen was nearly 1.5 Seconds faster than Marcus. In the second runs Marcus was fastest, to claim the pole for the A final, but in the third heat Marcus was just 7th fastest. Anyway, it was no need to go faster then as the pole was already safe for him. As one can see in the video Swede Michael Jernberg gave Marcus quite a challenge in the A final – till going into the alternative route of his Joker Lap. However, one can also see in the video that Hansen backed off for a moment when Marcus came out of the alternative route. Otherwise they would have had contact, at least.
On one hand I like very much that Marcus won, as he deserved that victory, but on the other hand it makes the top European Rallycross drivers look somewhat humble – and that was/is simply not the case.

No question about Matti but for me Antero Laine was a bigger Finnish loss to the ERC than Seppo "Wigspeed". ;)

I doubt Seb would do that - he's more likely to go Sportscars - I think he wants a Le Mans win.

Time will tell. A drive in the second C4 of Kenneth Hansen is in the RX grapevine for quite some time now. And Grönholm’s Höljes result will add new fuel to the fire…

For nearly whole my motorsport career I've driven against the clock and how I drove against my fellow competitors at the same time. It was very wonderful to sit and relax with very powerful car and hit pedal to medal. Success was major bonus for my enjoyment, Grönholm reported."
Not only is he feeling strage and how he is driving against his fellow competitors. He had the medal in the car from the start. Apart from this, which I guess his fellow competitors probably does not approve of; you´re supposed to have the medal after the race I believe. What if Bosse hadn´t had the medal under his pedal: the car would have gone even faster!
Finally: for some resaon I belive that the reports on Bosses page is no longer written by the Ford HQ. But I could be wrong :)

RX was born on February 4 1967 at Lydden Circuit, Kent, England as a TV show event for invited rally drivers only (the winner was Vic Elford with Porsche 911) and is still the TV spectacle per se. But live at the tracks it is ten times better anyway.

Agree, its a good way to spend a day, I was in the past always at Ahvenisto watching the ERC, and the natonal events here was good level and proper cars too.

Blimey, what a pity that the Ahvenistolla is no longer used for ERC rounds and had not been chosen as the venue for the 2008 candidate event for a 2009 Finnish ERC round. They went on June 8 to Kouvola instead and I understood that the Tykkimäen Moottorirata was not in favour of those who grant ERC rounds. However, the Ahveniston Moottorirata was always one of my absolute favourite ERC tracks, with a very compact course, nice corners and flowing gravel bends as well as a fine and comprehensible paddock. And those regular visits to my good friend Timo Kittelä (of Rally Systems Oy) at Kellokoski is also something to remember with great pleasure.

Yes true, and very good for spectartors as well, easy to get there and to get away after the event + no matter where you did sit you could see easily the whole action, about Tykkimäki I have no idea.

Interesting thanks for the history.I googled it and found a wiki article talking about Australia and how it flopped here sad and surprising considering the great one Peter Brock (RIP :( ) was one of the early proponents.
I love how the drivers seem to have no fear they just go for it. :D

I did about 50% of that wiki article, also the complete Aussie part. However, the wiki article in my mothertongue is much wider and for 95% my work, apart from the more recent pics. ;)
