Who do you guys think will be the main contenders for the BF Goodrich drive in the Barum Rally in august. I am looking forward to visiting Tsjechie once again. :D

Filip
5th July 2008, 21:50
I think they'll have to chose between Valoušek and Orsak, Valuošek definetly deserves the oportunity and Orsak is also a very promising young driver who improves from race to race. I'm sure it will be a very exciting rally as the competition in Czech championship is very high this year and everybody is pushing to the limit. :D

I wanted to do that for fans but I do not know yet what will be the final form of special stages (only Pluto knows it because he is a member of the organiser team - but unfortunatelly he is tight-lipped). And there is not any possibility how to get info about special stages from the organisers. Please, wait until the official printed programme will be released (probably one week before the event) and I will switch-on my GPS receiver then....

I will let you know here in the forum.

After his convincing victory in Kopna Rallysprint, do you think that Kresta will switch to Peugeot for Barum Rally? It would be great to see what he can do there, compared to all major title-candidates for IRC-crown. :D

You don't know one of the best Czech drivers? This year he had some podium finishes in Czech Rally Championship with a (much) smaller budget than Kresta and Pech. He did the JWRC in 2005 and 2006.

I just saw that entries are closing tomorrow wednesday 30/08 at 06.00pm. Does anybody have an idea how many entries are made and wich are the main contenders. It seems like they have allready 18 S2000 entries? That is really great and we can look forward to another great battle for victory. ;)

Yes, I know, but situation in our championship is very difficult, we have a very stupid calendar and just 3 rallies in Croatia, while the others are in Slovenia and Austria. Most of our drivers unfortunately can't afford that because their sponsors aren't interested in promotion outside Croatia.
Also rumors say that Juraj Šebalj quit rallying as he became a father recently.
But that won't stop me from coming to Zlin because the atmosphere there is fantastic and the race will be good for sure. :) :D

There were some other variants but some of them were too expensive. Anyway Kresta was satisfied with TRT work after Kopna and it is believed they offered very good price as well (some say they also prommised new stronger engine for Barum). Kresta himself never said TRT car wasn't good. It was more general forum stance than anything real.

Hey Kevin, it is true that the S2000 cars are a lot quicker than last year, but i think Pech will be fast also. Anyhow, we arrived yesterday and did some recce of the stages, they are very fast and some also very bumpy, really nice stages. In the evening we went to scruteneering where we met with some other forummembers. Great atmosphere in Zlin, we are leaving to shakedown in a short while. See you. ;)

Some shakedown flash news.
-Alen had power sterring problems in his car... but the team fixed it...
-Jaromir Tarabus had mechanical problems in his Punto...
-Travaglia, Basso, Loix, Rossetti and Ojeda went really fast
-Kopecky wasn't pushing very hard (maybe to hide the real potential of Fabia S2000)
-Beres and Solowow had some small off...

wwbroe
22nd August 2008, 16:35
Shakedown was really nice and representative for stages. The fastest men were Vouilloz, Loix and Kopecky. There was a chicane halfway on very fast section, Beres and Solowow went off there and had some damage. Up to ceremonial start now and then later on to super special stage. :)

Las year he was going quite well until he had a puncture.. but this year the entries are stronger... let's see what he can do.. I think it will be very difficult to see Loix at the top... maybe he will go like he did in Madeira this year.

Hi, I am living near Zlín but I must miss watching Barum rally because of concussion, so I post here some useful links :
http://www.onisystem.cz/rallyzive/rally-barum-zlin/1_stage - you can see by GPS, where the crews are now - It looks like Butor and Vosahlo are lost. :-)

http://www.play.cz/listen/listen.php?sh=kisspublikum&bitrate=128&stype=WMA - here will be live coverage in car of no.23 Jaromír Tarabus (Fiat Grande Punto S2000) and no.109 Daniel Vladyka (Honda Civic VTi N2).

He had a puncture at right rear side, i saw it on SSS. There are a lot of big time differences allready. Caviglioli broke a wheel in stage because he hit a rail. We will see tomorrow, but i think it will be very hard for Fiat crews. Looks like Pug's are really very much in front on this rally. The SSS was very crowdede but less spectators then last year. We will see tomorrow how it will go. I am going to sleep now. :D

He was running, but in front of all other cars, i mean that it was run in reverse order. So he was in SS in front of everybody else. I don't know his time on this stage, as they are not publishing any times, but i will take some split times of Kopecky to see how he is doing compared to the other S2000 cars. ;)
