Ford are finally bringing out some great looking cars.
Looks great, so much for the 4wd rumours.
The UK hot hatch market is going to have to go back to smaller engined, lighter cars to remain popular due to the governments new road tax system.
Am I the only one that thinks it looks stupid and that it's a stupid colour too?

I agree about the lurid colour for that example but I think it would look really good in white or silver.

I actually like the colour and your thinking  but yep it would stand out a bit too much on the road so i would probably have it in a white as well ;)

White seems to be the fashionable colour at the moment.

Looks fantastic and really mean, but it's still boring FWD :(
oh look, it's left-hand drive. :D
An interesting fact Jeremy Clarkson said on Top Gear once. If you wonder why the car has a registration number like the one that is on that Focus, it's so the photos of the car can be reversed for a foreign market and it still looks like a normal plate. A right hand drive version would be 118 TMH.
It looks ok, prefer the Sierra and Escort Cosworth myself though.

They was but it was down to cost.
They were going to use a 4WD transmission from Volvo but would've need heavy revision on the chassis and transmission itself, so they've gone with FWD-LSD set up instead because Ford are expecting it to be a loss maker, as was the previous RS.

It doesn't really look any different from the Focus ST. 300bhp...the average boy racer is going to have to remortgage the house to afford the fuel and tax on that one these days. :p

It has indeed. But if youve got an ST you can get the ecu remapped and a few other minor mods and thatl give you the same amount of power for alot less money.

You've still got the RS and Ford badge which aren't symmetrical. But in general all promo shots have reversible plates like that. 08 MXM 80 is a common one.

I'm a fan of green, the colour of the grass, of the county and of heroes, but it just has to be a strong green ;) Maybe my mind would change if it were in a strong blue?

I don't think Ford realise what the RS stands for. I always thought it was Rallye Sport, and as such was based on/ or was the road version of the Rally car. This isn't - it's not a 2L Turbo and it hasn't got 4WD. I know the reasons why, but still don't buy the excuses. The Lancer and Impreza have 4WD and they shift a helluva lot of cars. I still say it's a 'tarted up' ST. Remember the rumours of a Focus Cosworth as far back as 1998/99. Shame.
Agree about the small light cars though - reading James May's piece in the Telegraph Motoring section on Saturday - he says the same. Where are all the small light, but fun cars?

Mito GTA 230bhp (1.8l turbo) in a car weighing about 1300kg's I would guess. 155bhp 1.4 weighs in at 1140 or so. I think that's lightweight and should be fun :)

In all honesty, I think Ford is trying to steal styling cues from the Mazda 2. Other than that the colour screams CHAV, but the car is otherwise fine I suppose.

Then you should see the new Fiesta. It basically *is* a slightly remodelled Mazda 2.

Crossed with a C4 :p
Is it not based on the same playform as the Mazda 2 anyway? :)

If you were to chop the Focus, Volvo S40 and the Mazda 3, they would be the same car. Volvo and Ford even use the same glasshouse.
