Welcome to the first round of the re-born offline DTM championship on TDR3.
If you haven't already, look at the other thread to add your name to the entry list and then you're set.

This will be run with your OWN SET-UPS and with PRO-SIM handling. The calendar will be flexible with races once or twice a month.

The first race will be Eurospeedway. Qualifying starts now in time trial mode. Post your times here, updating the list if and when you improve (can be updated as many times as you like).

johnny shell is the official 'leader' of this series, so I'm sure he'll add something if I've made a mistake or missed something.

Let the DTM series begin!

never driven the DTM's in pro-sim... should be exciting!

actually I did - once, by accident. Every time I touched the brakes the car spun out. Then I learned about adjusting brake bias.

oh - here's our official caveat for all the series -
*corner cutting and dangerous driving OFF. But keep two wheels on the track at all times (unless you spin off or whatever)*

oh yeah - how many laps is it going to be? 10 maybe?

The race could be 10 laps, yeah.

I assume you can have as many quali laps as you like.

What an error - obviously it should be TRD3 not TDR3!

yeah, qualify, test, & do as many practice races & restarts as you want is the norm.

we can do more or less that 10 laps if you want.....

No- 10 laps is good.

My first times will be on later.

really like these cars on pro-sim.

I guess we'll just leave qualifying open until everyone who wants to submit a time is satisified with theirs.....

oh yeah - here's a little something I used to do on the 'old' series -

Round 1 of the new 2008 TRD3 DTM Championship takes us to the German city of Klettwitz, which is near the Czech and Polish borders in the region the Germans call Lausitz.

The track was officially opened 2000. It was talked about as early as 1986, as a way to invest in the former East Germany and utilize the space left behind by some of the old open coal mines.

The circuit has many configurations, including a 2 mile American-style banked tri-oval, and a 11 km endurance circuit (which has yet to be used, except for testing).

It is here that Alex Zanardi suffered a terrible crash in an Indy Car race, losing both his legs.

He has since returned to competition and has won in the FIA World Touring Car Championship, driving for BMW.

This even is ran in horor of him.

BTW j.shell, just to let you know you put 'This even is ran in horor of him.' instead of 'event' and 'honour' if I'm correct. Dont want to be picky - but didnt make much sense to me!!
Nice passage anyway - I dont know much about Indycar, and didnt know Zanardi was in such a terrible accident. Good for him to win in the touring cars.

How did your run go? I did about 15 laps before I beat the 1:10 barrier - mostly 1:15s until I got a quick run into the first couple of corners without braking much!

don't worry, I'll get more competitive as I turn more laps.

that 1:09 looks pretty tough though!

pettersolberg29
3rd July 2008, 17:34
I surprised myself - dont think I'll beat it...

Unfortunately races are not as good for me! Cant help 'ramming' into the opposition so I lose a lot of time!

johnny shell

whoops. bad typos!

it took me about 15 minutes to get my 1:14... I was on .10 tires.

I had some understeer so I cranked up the front roll bar, but other than that was stock.

yeah, making that first turn took quite a few restarts!

oh yeah, I adjusted the brake bias too...the car kept getting loose on corner entry.

I'll probably be able to pick up a second with more tuning, and a few seconds by leanring my braking points... but that still puts me in the 1:10's.

now, if Vuko shows up... he'll be able to give you a race for sure ;)

but don't count me out just yet!

oh yeah- what do you want to set the AI at for the race?

we usually use 110%

pettersolberg29
3rd July 2008, 17:42
I've heard about Vuko! Be good if he could join though. I saw some posts from the 2007 DTM on here, and there were over 15 racers. Good times...

I used .20 tyres and a 43/57% rear/front ratio. Other than that - default.

pettersolberg29
3rd July 2008, 17:45
110% - thats much harder than I usually do - I have it at around 80%!

But lets try it first time and I'll see how I go!!

Also - does qualifying actually mean anything or is it for fun and to gauge your opponent?

I changed the set-up to default and beat my best!

just for fun

if 110% is too tough in DTM then we can lower it... in the V8s we can usually beat them at 110%. DTM's might be different though.

you should give the V8's a go too :)

I sent spackman an email... we'll give him some time to show up... plus I won't be able to run this race until I finish the current V8 round probably, so we'll probably leave this open until the end of next weekend or so maybe?

wow, 43/57 brakes? I've got mine at like 30/70 I think

pettersolberg29

110% is acceptable. Just had a go and I just won - so 110% it is!

Looking forward to this....never tried DTM in Pro-Sim......I'll put in a session tomorrow.....I found in the V8's in Pro-Sim you need to adjust the Brake Bias...I use 20/80 normally....otherwise the V8's are pigs to drive! I might try the Opel in the DTM.
