I'm going to Sweden in september for a week with some of my mates.

We're looking at going to northern Sweden, around Kiruna (a flight from stockholm), for 4 days and to try and see the northern lights aurora.

We're also looking at returning to Stockholm for a couple of days.

Has anyone any advice about travelling in Sweden and good places to visit? Also, any general advice about staying/booking at hostels as I've found a few which have no online system - telephone only.

Any little pieces of advice or info very much appreciated.

Andy

What a coincidence, I'm back from a 5-day trip to Sweden recently.

We [the music band] went to Rettvik which is kind of in the middle of Sweden I think. Not too sure what the weather is like further north but it was very hot and humid when we were there [21-26 Jun this year.] If money allows, we'll actually be going back in September too.

If Rettvik is no use to you then i can't really help. We didn't even get to see Stockholm such was the pressure with trains, flights, gigs etc

It is a lovely country though :)

Edit: On the subject of hostels, we didn't manage to have internet connection in ours. It cost us 250kr per night [about €25] with breakfast included. It was kept well and we were given a great service.
