... I almost always get directed to a porn site
Maybe my internet search abilities are pants, maybe it's the same for everybody?
Just done a search for information on something so far removed from porn it's in another universe and what did I get? Some starlet called Hazel when I wanted drying times for thumb stick hazel branches :dozey: (We're not doing puns on the name, I've heard them all already!)
Looking for old pictures from a music festival we went to, I ended up at some gay porn site (took me two weeks to get out of that one!)
Gold star for the person producing the most far fetched porn site search mishap :)

I have never in my entire life been accidentally guided to a porn site.
I think there is something we aren't being told here!

perhaps you shouldn't use pornfinder.com as your search engine. ;)

Doesn't happen to me I'm afraid to say!
Maybe it's your browsing habits Hazel. Or there could be spyware on your machine constantly offering you up links to threesomes and orgys... :s hock:

I hadn't thought about it being spyware :(
Grrrr!

Yep, your browser has been HIJACKED.
Happened to me in the past, although the hijacker diverted me to online shopping sites.
Took me months to fix.....

A girl I work with needed to find something for her kids baseball team and couldn't find it anywhere. Somebody told her to try the website for this one chain. It is named D***'s Sporting Goods. (My mother makes us call it Richard's when we talk about the place so you figure it out). She ended up with everything on her work computer but sporting goods. Needless to say she is much more careful of her internet searches.
By the way, she did drive over to the nearest branch (45 mins away) and got what she needed.

Why is it called Spyware and not Timesaver?

You've probably got something called CoolWebSearch, which is a sneakly little bugger.
Have a look at this:

It could be the way you talk, Hazell. Haven't you noticed that your threads here usually turn to smut too. Either that, or Dave Brockman has hijacked your computer.

Yep, my PC was infected with that a while back :s . Like luvracin said, it took months to eventually figure out how to get rid of it :mark:

if she feels uncomfortable with the name of that store, then try Sports Authority. Good selection. :)
Now, back to your scheduled thread, already in progress... :p :

Why don't you put safe search on??

Hazell, may I suggest you stop putting 'busty babes' in your search requests? ;)

I think the trouble is Hazells computer has gotten so used to searching for 'pictures of Johnny Depp in his trollies' that it simply assumes it will be it's required task for today and reacts accordingly ;)

'pictures of Johnny Depp in his trollies'
Trust me, he looks better dressed
Jon, I have no idea what safe search means. I'm not very good at pooters :mark:
Anyway, some nasty mean spirited spythingy it was. I'd had it years and never knew. It's gone now but the computer's making some gurgling noises so I think I've angered it (or it's eaten Brockman :p : )
Thanks folks.
Now it's fixed, you'll need to invent a reason for me 'finding' porn in future ;)

I've opened a can of worms now :s
What's wrong with the computer if I'm at play.com but it won't let me order or show me my account? All that comes up is a page cannot be found page
I want American Psycho, Chocolat and Columbo Season 3 and I want them now! :bigcry:

reminds me of the news story from a decade ago when a young girl was using the internet to search for information on the book "Little Women"

There are free downloadable programs which will deinstall spyware from your computer. The best one I've found is Ad-Aware, which is effective and user-friendly.
When I first used it, there was one of those porn dialler things on there, which explained all the dodgy sites I was being directed to.
