The FIA has upped the ante in its stand-off with Bernie Ecclestone by announcing plans to review how Formula 1 is governed.

After a meeting of its World Motor Sport Council in Paris on Wednesday, the FIA said it would be consulting teams on changes to the way F1 is run in future.

The move comes after a bout of megaphone diplomacy between Ecclestone and FIA president Max Mosley over how Formula 1’s multi-million pound revenues should be distributed.

Ecclestone wants the FIA’s signature on a new Concorde Agreement along the same lines as the recently lapsed one, whereas Mosley wants more revenue to go the teams and less to Ecclestone’s Formula One Management company.

How about Max and Bernie just fight to solve this. Right in the middle of Place de la Concorde.

Far too much traffic in Place de la Concorde. Make it in the Parc Champ de Mars so everyone can get a good view :p

Well they're both ex-racing drivers so how about sorting this mess out on-track? Max makes up the rules so knows how to break them, and Bernie has a blank cheque to spend what he wants on his car! :p

Then he'll just get Slavica to pick him up (considering all of his F1 money is in her name it would be in her interest really). Or maybe he'll just hire Flav to fight for him, since they seem to be such great buddies. ;)

"...whereas Mosley wants more revenue to go the teams and less to Ecclestone’s Formula One Management company."

Surely the FIA is only in charge of sporting regulations - not distribution of money?

Right, but they will sign the new Concorde Agreement only if their conditions are met by Bernie.

So, the FIA doesn't have a say on distribution of money, BUT by imposing conditions under which they will ratify a new Concord agrrement the FIA does have a say on distribution of money. Naughty naughty...

MaX says "pay back time, bernie, for not inviting me to your wife's birthday party.......what 300 million you gave me a few years ago? I spent it already on a nice suit, lawyers, some entertainment....besides the way you keep bringing it up, that might look like a bribe and we would not want to do anything that might be considered less than actions of true gentlemen, would we........."
