Love these stages...such variety and a real opportunity to put the hammer down only to be confronted by a tarmac strip surrounded by rocks!

Had a quick recce this morning using the same set up as the last round.

2:06.21
2:05.38
2:05.12
2:05.70
2:04.97

These stages produced our first noteworthy result earlier in the season (albeit just a click or two ahead of NOR).

Hope we have the pace for a top 3 again for this round..

Could you post your sector times, Homer?

I'll be in the 2:09s (or 8's if I am lucky) and would love to know where I am losing time.

Probably on the "2" on the stage.

I know the sectors will not be the 'mirrored' sectors, but no matter..

Cheers,

I do my shakedown

2 16 30
2 18 01
2 19 03

I think we need to adjust steering and suspension

2:12.77 off and teleport on the final tarmac section :D
2:07.16
2:07.31
2:08.10
2:07.62

Steering change from -5 to -3 yielded us about a 1 second improvement

There's been a death in my family and I'm away for 2 days at least (no sympathies-it was a step-relative)

Will humbly request an extension for submission..

wow. a 2:07.** from Tannat. It looks like he's been looking over Marcel's pace notes this time... well done.

finished the shakedown:
2:21.71
2:15.74 PB
2:16.95
2:17.32
2:19.71
Still too much sliding around, but still got a PB for our troubles.

We finished!
Day 1:
We started sort of ok but threw it away after geetting sideways after 1 of the jumps on stage 2 and went into the trees. We set to getting some good times setting PB's on the next 2 stages. I had to talk to our Gravel crew about the tyre choice they gave us. Dry tyres when it was pissing down? Where's the sense in that? Stage 9 we were going great until we rolled right at the end of the stage! Again we tried to make up for it on stage 10 and just went faster. The SS was a disaster, went sideways on the first bridge and just missed those barriers.
Day 2:
Fast today but still had trouble in the creek, stuck fast on the rocks! set another PB on the next stage.Stage 5 was going well till we hit a post at top speed and despite protests from the other chair we carried on. Spun going into the last corner and ended up backwars through the end cards! The day went okand had 2 high speed spins again on the wrong tyres! The SS held a surprise again, those barriers had us in a spin, a full 360! Stuffed our good time.
We tried to do the best for our Mentor and Team Principal, Ove Andersson who passed away before our run. We didn't damage the Corolla TOO much. I nearly lost my Navigator after the high speed spins and he just clammed up! I just fed him more Red Bull after the RAlly!

Finished the rally last night due to crazy workloads! Day was good, steady, good times no real incidents just kept the foot down and hope the times came. I know these stages very well, even mirrored, so I had the confidence to push hard.

Day 2 we set 2PBs and really pushed hard. I honestly don't think I could have gone any faster without having a huge off and losing a lot of time. Hopefully this means a big sackful of points...Marcel will be charging again so we have to try and keep the pressure up.

Set up for most stages (bar the obvious change to mud tyres for those stages):

Suspension: + 2
Gearbox: changed between stages generally + 2
Steering: - 2 (quicker)
Power: + 2
Brake power: - 2
Bias: - 1

Reporter: Frozzy youve gone through the final time control how did the rally go?
Frozzy:no i hated it the Skoda ate through 4 gearboxes this week end so we're low on funds for the next rally.

Reporter: so how do you feel you got on.
Frozzy: well to be honest we probably came last becasue we were really slow on stage 10 on day 1 in the dark we had no confidence on the road and we couldnt get past 4th gear
so we lost a bout 2 minutes pherhaps.

Reporter: now its the mid season break what are your plans for the break?

Frozzy: well we're hopefully going to negotiate with M-Sport to get a drive for next season in the Ford Focus '06 maybe.

Completed our rally..

Very lukewarm feeling about it all. Some lackluster performances on SS3, and a loss of 4 seconds (!!!!) on stage 8.

Tricky stages, and if you don't have your game together you get bitten..

pfff...finally completed the rally as well. I needed the extension as well this time. After some hard needed recce last week I had no time to do the rally earlier.
The extensive recce gave us the confidence to push hard and we got a good rhythm straight away. Just as Homer I know these stages mirrored just as well as non-mirrored (like almost all stages after roughly 8-10 years of playing CMR2 :D ) I got close to a PB on some of the stages but made errors on some others as well. After all it was a fairly good rally and because of the good recce we were able to shave a few seconds of our total time in non-mirrored mode...I hope it will be enough as Homer is pushing us hard and we need every point.

Thanks to the extension I managed to get the rally done as well.

Here are my shakedown times:
2.12,09
2.11,48
2.10,49
2.11,36
2.09,45 (PB)

Not many others posting shakedown times, so I don't really know where I stand...

The rally went well, I think it was my cleanest event so far. I only spun off once, unfortunately that was against a rock (on the sixth stage of the second day) and it cost me about 5 seconds :( But I ended the rally on a high with two personal best times on the final two stages.

Our times felt slow, and the car was a bit twitchy..

we hope to keep pace with Frozzy for this event.

Happy with 4th, no way we could have challenged for third...

Where is NOR?

And look who finished 5th! Good run kabouter!

Steve 10 points adrift but closing with each round. Hoping to hold him at bay til the end of the season.

WE WANT THIRD!!!!!!

Thank you Tannat, as Valentino Rossi would say: "I am werrry happy." We were full of confidence after the improvement in performance in the previous two rounds, and the absence of several quick competitors gave us the opportunity to score an undreamed of result. At the start of the season I never thought I could score a fifth place, and thanks to Scandi Navian Flick both Curtans RallyBase Motorsports cars are inside the top 10 for the first time :)

That's the third rally in a row where I manage to just stay ahead of Jso after he mounts something of a comeback on day 2. I think I should be happy there is no 3rd day in our rallies...

Congratulations to Marcel for another fine win. The title race could be very exciting still. And then there's the question if Tannat can make good use of the many tarmac events in the second half of the season to hold on to his third place in the championship classification.

Hopefully after the summer break the field will be larger again. See you all in Finland!

Congrats Marcel....thought this one might be tough and although we got closer he was just too good for us - couple of seconds nearly every stage just added up. Still we've kept the championship lead and have to up our game for Finland!
