Hmm, bit random, but I just noticed that the '08 has larger front brake rotors:
Here is saus that the rotors are 378mm in diameter (http://www.pettersolberg.com/forum/read.php?11,12232) where here it says that the '07 car used 366mm (http://www.swrt.com/news/latest_news.html?id=1449).

My question, why the hell wernt they using the larger diameter brakes all the time?

They using larger diameter brake, to stop immediately from race.

Larger discs means more unsprung weight. Unsprung weight is not good.

You do know that larger brakes also run cooler and generally stop you harder don't you?
