That is correct Madeira, but he is the IRC-champion of last year, and he wasn't doing to bad on gravel rounds of last year's IRC championship, so i expected a lot more of him, even if he doesn't know the roads to well. Still disappointment in my point of vieuw. ;)

I don't know if Ojeda has any problem with the car, this second leg is being a disaster for him!
It's important to say that each leg is counting like one rally for Portuguese Championship and José Pedro Fontes are doing an interesting job. He is behind Bruno only by 1,6 seconds!(today)
Finally I have to say that I'm very impressed with the young spanish driver from Canary Islands Yeray Lemes...

From 1993 to 2003 the rally belonged to the ERC with the coeff. 10 and now scores to the European Cup - West Zone.
Many drivers ran here, like Yves Loubet, Fabrizio Tabaton, Sebastien Lindholm, Alister McRae, Gregoire de Mevius, Stig Blomqvist, Harri Rovanpera, Bruno Thiry, Markko Martin, Juha Kankkunen, Thomas Radstrom, etc.
Alister McRae ran in the Azores three times. First in 1997 with the Subaru Impreza WRX from Procar. He retired with gear box broken when he was first overall and in 1999 with the Impreza WRC from Cilti Sport he retired like in 2003 with the 206 WRC of BSA.
Pictures taken by me of Alister:

After the end of the Rally of Monte Carlo was a meeting between IRC rally organizer with the leaders of Eurosport Events, the company sponsoring the event.
This meeting, held at the Automobile Club of Monaco, was attended by Francisco Coelho from Sata Rally Azores and Pedro Araújo and Antonio Mendonca by the Madeira Rally.
Little news out of this meeting was the most likely exit from the Safari Rally calendar.
Francisco Coelho has not lost time and opportunity to carry out contacts with various teams and drivers, and can confirm the three major brands that are on IRC, Abarth, Peugeot and Skoda will be in the Azores Rally.
Pilot also very important, as Toni Gardemeister will be on the island of San Miguel as well as some Spanish pilots. It is also to brief the confirmation of a high-level pilot at the wheel of a car top, it will be among the main candidates to victory in an operation that involved as a sponsor cars brand.
Francisco Coelho, who also had the opportunity to witness the "Night of Turini" as navigator Jean-Pierre Nicolas, was also present at the closing event of the rally.

Like the new tells will be a sponsor car brand involved in the presence of the top driver. If the organization will pay or not is nothing new in the Azores as well in Madeira.

But really, a TOP DRIVER that would be able to step in a new car for him and fight immediately FOR THE WIN in a gravel rally??? And no Galli?!? So who can it be then?!? Definitely no veteran like Kankkunen, Mäkinen or Blomquist, maximally recently retired. Or better an actual top driver without a seat... So we have: Grönholm, Sainz, PGA, Atkinson, ... whom else?
And the car must be Peugeot or Fiat...
And the sponsor? Brand, but not manufacturer? What connections do we have...let me think...wow! TATA and FIAT!!!?
