Lloyd accident in turn 1. Awake and alert but going to the hospital complaining of neck pain. Hope it's nothing. He seemed like a possible top 11 qualifier, so the timing is horrible for him. This is goign to put him behind.

Turn 1 mid-out seems to be catching drivers this year.

Dixon showing the speed so far. But it's close.

01 S Dixon 39.6531 226.968 34
02 M Andretti 39.6983 226.710 24
03 T Kanaan 39.7022 226.688 29
04 R Briscoe 39.7978 226.143 24
05 H Mutoh 39.8247 225.990 26

Interesting how Briscoe seems to be outpacing Helio.

Streaming video just announced moisture being felt in portions of the track. Bad news!

Skys do look dark in Indy. If today is shortened things should be interesting tomorrow as some drivers with less than perfected setups go for it.

Graham is the highest place rookie in 15th spot at 223.291 about 3.7 off the pace.

Graham's the fasted rookie from a transition team, which is an accomplishemnt for sure.

Still, Mutoh, Lloyd, and Hunter-Reay are considered Indy rookies. They make a distinction between series rookies and Indy 500 rookies for the 500 ROTY award. All very confusing and seemingly arbitrary.

From what I understand, Dominguez had a small wreck on pit out.

An AGR crew member was also found unconcious and taken to the hospital. No word on why.

Maybe best to call it a day at this rate.

yeah, he spun coming out of the pits about an hour in (before any moisture was about). saw it live on the streaming. he just put too much power down and lost it and hit the inside wall. Not hard but they'll need to throw a few spares on that car.

From the Timing & Scoring monitor:
Heavy rain is now falling at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The track has been lost.

Lost???? Maybe shut down for the day, but lost????

BTW, was the Alex Lloyd crash today?

BTW, was the Alex Lloyd crash today?

Yes, today around 2:00. There is video on it at indycar.com. He was concious but taken on a stretcher to the hospital with neck pain.

Turns out it was a Dayle Coyne Crew member that was hit by Danica. He was knocked out but was awake when transported with head and face lacerations.
